During this uncertain time for the nation and the arts community, 1st Stage remains committed to creating diverse, modern work by leading playwrights and performers. Despite the prolonged theatre closure necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company delights in bringing you the same quality of beautiful, emotional, relatable stories that you could have otherwise seen on our stage.

The 2020 Kesselring Prize for playwriting-a $25,000 award given annually to an outstanding playwright deserving of national recognition-will be given this year to Mona Mansour, it has been announced by The National Arts Club, which has bestowed the award since 1980.

Combining her television and stage experience has led Lesley and her husband Ned Mochel to create the podcast, 'Pretty Little Wine Moms,' producing new episodes every Wednesday. Lesley hosts the show along with her 'Pretty Little Liars' co-stars and friends Holly Marie Combs and Nia Peeples. But it isna??t your ordinary podcast. During each installment, the trio break down a complete episode of the fan-favorite TV series for listeners, revealing little-known facts and behind-the-scenes tidbits during each episode, which also includes an in-depth interview with special guests from the series and a quiz show testing everyonea??s knowledge of the episode.

4th Wall Theatre Company is postponing the opening of its 10th anniversary season of live theatre. The company hopes to resume in-person productions in January of 2021 with the play BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY by Stephen Adly Guirgis (originally scheduled to hit the stage in early September).

Ojai Playwrights Conference has announced a series of online, intimate artistic residencies and programs designed for 2020 circumstances, continuing for the 23rd season the work of developing new plays and providing support for diverse writers both emerging and established.

Atlantic Theater Company is offering a new lineup of virtual programming in its Live with Atlantic series, featuring artists from Atlantic's past, present and future. All events are free and will take place via Zoom.

IAMA Theatre Company has joined forces with ScreenCraft to present the third annual Stage Play Writing Competition. IAMA co-artistic director Stefanie Black will join a jury of industry professionals to help choose the winning script, which will receive a $1,000.00 cash prize; be circulated to Screencraft's network of playwrights, theater companies, producers, literary managers, agents and award-winning writers; and be given a weeklong workshop, produced by IAMA and culminating in a reading before an audience of writers and entertainment industry professionals.

The Ojai Playwrights Conference is establishing a first-time annual award, the Dr. Kerry English Artist Award, in honor of OPC board member Dr. Kerry English who passed away in April of this year.
