Mint Theater Company announced that Elizabeth Baker’s Chains would make its long delayed American premiere at Theatre Row.

 The Off-Broadway coming-of-age story SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY sold out its run in New York. Now, Cincinnati audiences can enjoy a new production that takes them into the endlessly entertaining world of teenage girlhood when it plays in the Marx Theatre this spring.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will bring Truvy's beauty salon to the Marx Theatre stage beginning March 19 with the production STEEL MAGNOLIAS. Based on Robert Harling's beloved off-Broadway hit, which inspired a blockbuster movie of the same name, the show features beloved characters, snappy dialogue and a timeless celebration of female friendship.

Told through the memory of 20-year-old Linda O'Shea, the play begins when the parish priest overhears Linda's bawdy-but-accurate explanation of “the birds and the bees” to her younger sister, Becky. What follows is a fast-paced chain of events that's both unexpected and hilarious.

Since Broadway had been dark throughout the nomination process, the society would instead honor virtual theatre productions that happened throughout the year, naming it the Virtual Theatre Award. Other nominees include Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Girls5Eva, Ted Lasso, Bridgerton, Wandavision, Shrill, This Is Us, The Queen's Gambit, and more.

Beginning Oct. 9, THE WEST END, a world-premiere drama from Keith Josef Adkins, will transport audiences to a transformative chapter in the city’s history, thanks to support from the Rosenthal Family Foundation. The show runs through Nov. 7. Opening night is Oct. 14.

244 Productions will present “The Last Night of the Oki Dog,” a new play by Jeff Smith and Len Wechsler, part of the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival (BBTF) 2021 which will be held at Theatre Row (Theatre 2) 410 West 42nd Street (Between 9th & Dyer Avenues).

NY Classical Theatre, New York City’s all-free Off Broadway Equity theatre company, will complete its acclaimed run of William Shakespeare’s King Lear this week. Final performance is Sunday, August 8 at The Battery (Battery Place & Broadway). Performances are Tuesday-Sunday at 7:00 pm. 

The 12th Jimmy Awards ceremony will be available to watch online on Thursday, July 15th at 7:30PM ET. Fans can watch right here at BroadwayWorld. The Broadway Education Alliance, Disney Theatrical Group and Camp Broadway LLC has announced that $87,975 in educational scholarships have been awarded to students participating in the 11th annual Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance, a celebration of high school musical programs in the Greater New York area.
