Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced today the full cast for the upcoming world premiere musical, Swept Away.

When Green Day's American Idiot arrived on Broadway in 2010, it received a mixed response. When I saw the original Broadway production, I thought the cast was glorious and found the Book, like everyone else, safe; an emotional roller coaster. Furthermore, you have the rocking score of Green Day's Grammy-winning album the musical is based on. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience seeing it on the Great White Way, and I am delighted Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC) has added it to their current season.

The new musical Swept Away, featuring the music of The Avett Brothers, will have its world premiere at Berkeley Rep this summer, beginning performances on June 14, starring John Gallagher, Jr. and Stark Sands.

Last night, fifteen Broadway stars were featured in Broadway Sings Queen, the latest concert in the Broadway Sings concert series at Sony hall. The tribute concerts take the music of well-known music icons and create new, unique arrangements and orchestrations by twisting the style to fit the strength of the performer. The Sony Hall series will continue on June 29 with Broadway Sings Taylor Swift and with their spinoff series at (le) poisson rouge, Adele: Unplugged, on April 13.

3-D Theatricals continues its 2019-2020 season with Kinky Boots, winner of six 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The production, which will be directed by Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia (Broadway's Avenue Q and Shrek The Musical) and choreographed by Linda Love Simmons (3-D Theatricals' Once The Musical) with musical direction and conducting by Benet Braun (La Mirada Theatre's Grumpy Old Men: The Musical). Kinky Boots will play February 14-March 1 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (18000 Park Plaza Drive, Cerritos, CA).

Broadway talents including Stark Sands (Kinky Boots), Kate Rockwell (Mean Girls), and Constantine Maroulis (Jekyll & Hyde, 'American Idol') complete the starry lineup for the next installment of the acclaimed Broadway Sings concert series, honoring the iconic rock band Queen on February 17 at Sony Hall. Cast members from Broadway shows including The Tina Turner Musical, Waitress and Head Over Heels will sing completely new arrangements of the hits of the British rock band, accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra playing original orchestrations of their music.

Stars of stage and screen have come together to celebrate Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award-winning star, Billy Porter's monumental year with an epic lip sync video for his chart-topping dance single, a?oeLove Yourself.a??    The a?oeLove Yourselfa?? lip synch video features Porter's a?oePosea?? co-stars MJ Rodriguez, Ryan Jamal Swain, Dyllón Burnside, Jeremy McClain, and Jason A. Rodriguez; Kinky Boots cast and creatives Cyndi Lauper, Jerry Mitchell, Stark Sands, Annaleigh Ashford, Lena Hall, and the Ogunquit Playhouse cast of the smash hit musical; the Broadway cast of Ain't Too Proud; along with Kelly Ripa, Debra Messing, Lin Manuel Miranda, Patina Miller, Nathan Lee Graham, Miss J, Peppermint, and designer Christian Siriano. 

The music of Maroon 5 came to Feinstein's/54 Below for one night only on November 11.
