Review: MAMMA MIA! at Theatre Memphis

Make this make sense: take a handful of successful Swedish pop songs from the 1970s, hand them to a British creative team to build a stage musical set on a Greek island, give it a commonly used Italian exclamation (“Mamma Mia!”), and watch it become an American phenomenon.

Review: ROCKY HORROR SHOW at The Civic, Auckland

On a sultry Auckland night (in more ways than one), an expectant crowd gathered, some in drag and raucous garb, others bustling from a long week of work. The majestic Civic Theatre beckoned with ample arms, its two tiered hall resplendent in historic finery. The scene was set for Richard O’Brien’s legendary show to explode on opening night – and, boy, did it deliver!

Review: SINEMATIC, Emerald Theatre

It appears Tosca Rivola is back for a sequel of sorts. After last year’s debacle that was Diamonds and Dust - a production she co-created with Dita Von Teese that promised the moon, delivered a pebble, was 'paused' shortly after its press night and then, two months later, quietly cancelled - the American cabaret producer has returned to Aaron Mellor’s Emerald Theatre with her long running concept show Sinematic.

Review: ArtSwara Production’s VINTAGE SOUNDS: A Nostalgic Singalong

The performances continued with Maera, Dipo, Bimozeno, followed by Gilang Arga, Taufan Purbo, and Iwak the Rock Fish, keeping the energy consistently dynamic. A standout moment came when Gabriel Havrianto performed a tribute song to Titiek Puspa. His vocals were powerful, and overall, the vocal quality across performers remained consistently impressive.
