Pangea owner Stephen Shanaghan has opened his personal address book in an effort to help save a nearly four decade old theatrical establishment, asking for financial assistance for TWEED Theater Works.

Each of the shows mentioned below stood out this year in a year of people working hard to get back to work and who all deserve praise for doing so. With all that and a whole lot more in mind, here is the Best of Bobby - 2021 Edition:

Sidney’s shows are collections of novelty numbers interspersed with beautiful love songs and heartfelt moments from the theatre, such as Bock & Harnick’s HERE IN EDEN, the opening number to THE APPLE TREE that in Mr. Myer’s eccentric voice, with his subtle acting choices brought tears to the eyes of his house.

The Burman Award finalists were: Bob Levy and Alyce Finell. The Wallowitich Award finalists were: Alex Goldie Golden and Billy Recce.

THE MELODY LINGERS ON: A GALA TRIBUTE TO THE SONGS OF IRVING BERLIN was a gathering of some of the biggest names in the cabaret world. There’s something a little odd about celebrating the intimate art of cabaret in a Broadway-sized theatre like Rose Hall, but to be honest it was one of the few venues sizable enough to hold all the cabaret fans who came to see this fine collection of talented artists. There were performances from Sandy Stewart, Jeff Harner, Andrea Marcovicci, Eric Yves Garcia, Karen Oberlin, David LaMarr, Natalie Douglas, Stacy Sullivan & Todd Murray, Karen Akers, Steve Ross, Amra-Faye Wright, Klea Blackhurst, Billy Stritch, Aisha de Haas, Christine Andreas, Sidney Myer, Karen Mason, Nicolas King, Mark Nadler, and the Moipai Triplets. In addition to these wonderful performers, we were treated to some of NYC’s best musicians including Ray Marchicka, Steve Doyle, Jon Weber, Bill Charlap, Darnell White, Alex Rybeck, Mark Hummel, Michael Rice, and Tracy Stark.

The Mabel Mercer Foundation, led by KT Sullivan shows resilience as it evolves with the changing times and pandemic needs, presenting streaming and live performances for the 2021 Cabaret Convention.

Becca Kidwell's Show Of Dares is one of the most imaginative and creative ideas for a cabaret show, pushing her to new heights in her artistry, and proving that which her friends and mentors already know: in the cabaret rooms of New York City, Becca has found an artistic home.

There are young people in the cabaret rooms of New York City because of the young talent and ever-changing material to be found in those rooms. The future of cabaret looks bright, indeed.
