Behind-the-scenes antics, a play within a play, and costumed comedy are well loved because they work, and INTO THE BREECHES! combines them in wartime for a fun night at the theatre.  INTO THE BREECHES! is playing at North Coast Repertory Theatre through November 13th.

Few composers reach the depth of emotions found in Tchaikovsky, and few conductors seem to react more passionately to musically expressed emotion than the San Diego Symphony's Rafael Payare. What better combination could there be for an outdoor waterfront concert at the Rady Shell.

The Old Globe and University of San Diego Shiley Graduate acting program was created as a result of very few actors being trained in classical theatre. The program nationally recruits seven students each year to participate in an intensive two-year, year-round course of graduate study in classical theatre. It is one of the most competitive programs in the country, with only a 2% acceptance rate.

THE OUTSIDER now playing at North Coast Rep through March 22nd is the perfect comedy antithesis for a year that can feel like a neverending political drama.  A top-notch comedic cast this show delivers on the laughs with some pointed humor that makes the most of the sometimes counterintuitive feeling political system.

It is also a universal truth that PRIDE AND PREJUDICE will be portrayed with the stiff formality of prior Austen adaptations - it's the law.  Thankfully, the Kate Hamill adaption now playing at the Cygnet Theatre through June 16th takes all of the starch out of the proceedings and adds in a bit of zany fun instead.

The final show of Cygnet's sixteenth season brings fun, whimsy and modern-day humor to a beloved classic by Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice runs May 15 through June 16, 2019. Opening Night for media is Saturday, May 18 at 8:00PM. The outspoken Elizabeth Bennet faces mounting pressure from her status-conscious mother to secure a suitable marriage. But is marriage suitable for a woman of Elizabeth's intelligence and independence? Especially when the irritating, aloof, self-involved tall, vaguely handsome, mildly amusing, and impossibly aristocratic Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn. Literature's greatest tale of latent love has never felt so theatrical or so full of life as it does in this effervescent new adaptation. Hamill's Pride and Prejudice garnered Best Theatre of 2017 from Huffington Post and was a Wall Street Journal Critic's Pick.
