Ira Lee Collings Reprises 'Tell-All' Show To Benefit The New York LGBT Community

Irrepressible singer-raconteur, Ira Lee Collings, has yielded to the will of the masses-and for a very good cause! His Naked - From The Neck Up is back by very popular demand during Gay Pride week as a fundraiser for SAGE, the country's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of elder lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) adults. The show plays on Thursday, June 27 at 7pm, at Don't Tell Mama in New York City.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) has announced the 2019 MAC Award nominees. The nominees, in a majority of the categories, were determined by votes cast by the active MAC membership. Special committees selected the nominees in the Ensemble Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Singing Entertainer (Female; Male), Recording (LaMott Friedman), Major Recording, Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories.

Urban Stages' Award Winning Series WINTER RHYTHMS Begins Performances Tomorrow

Continuing its 35th Anniversary season, Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director; Tom Toce Producer) proudly announces the line-up for this year's award-winning series, WINTER RHYTHMS 2018, which will begin Wednesday, December 12 featuring some of New York's best musical performances through Saturday,December 22, 2018 at Urban Stages Theatre (259 West 30th Street, just East of 8th Avenue).

Ira Lee Collings Is Naked—From The Neck Up At Don't Tell Mama

Singer-raconteur, Ira Lee Collings, premieres his latest show, NAKED-From The Neck Up on Sunday, September 23rd at 5:30 PM, at Don't Tell Mama in New York City. The Gay Geezer will dispense his usual sly patter and infectious enthusiasm in a very personal show, full of music and surprises and never-before-told secrets. Collings promises to bare all, from the heights of success to the darker moments of sorrow-aimed at at creating a feel-good experience. With Music Director, John M. Cook, and under the direction of Sally Darling, the curated set of songs include "On the Other Side of the Tracks," "An Occasional Man," "Mr. Wonderful," Nothing Can Stop Me Now" and more. NAKED-From the Neck Up will also play at Don't Tell Mama on Sunday, September 30th at 7 PM; Tuesday, October 2nd at 7 PM and Monday, October 15th at 7 PM.

2018 MAC Award Nominees Announced

The nominees, in a majority of the categories, were determined by votes cast by the active MAC membership. The MAC Board of Directors selected the nominees for Show of the Year. Special committees selected the nominees in the Ensemble Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Singing Entertainer (Female; Male), Recording (LaMott Friedman), Major Recording, Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories. The names of the songwriters in the Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories are being withheld during the voting period, but will be announced publicly as soon as the voting period concludes.

Vote for the BWW 2017 Cabaret Awards; Voting Ends Sunday!

Voting will run through December 31, 2017. Additionally, five Editor's Choice Awards recipients, including Cabaret Personality of the Year, will be announced after voting has completed. Following a review of the ballots, winners will be announced officially in January 2018!

BWW Feature: MAC's Best Female Vocalists Create Camaraderie From Competition With TOGETHER

This past March, at 2017's MAC Awards, honoring the best of cabaret in New York over the past season, as in most years, there were five nominees for Female Vocalist: Celia Berk, Sally Darling, Meg Flather, Josephine Sanges, and Lisa Viggiano. It's not particularly important, in this case, who won. (Flather did.) If their shared story met the usual expectations, it would've ended there and each nominee would've gone on her own way to do her next big thing. You'll be happy to hear their story defies those expectations.

TOGETHER: 2017 Returns to Don't Tell Mama This Tuesday Night for Performance Benefiting The Meatloaf Kitchen

On November 21, Celia Berk, Sally Darling, Meg Flather, Josephine Sanges and Lisa Viggiano reprise TOGETHER: 2017 Cabaret Award-Nominated Vocalists, whose spring and summer performance's benefiting Trinity Place Shelter and #TheEmpathyInitiative of The Seeing Place Theatre, were warmly received. Proceeds from their upcoming November show will benefit The Meatloaf Kitchen (founded by University Community Social Services) serving dinners to hungry New Yorkers every Saturday since 1982. Efforts to support to a soup kitchen during the season of thanks felt so right to the TOGETHER team.
