Tony Award-winning actress LAURA BENANTI (My Fair Lady) has been announced to host and perform at the 17th annual BROADWAY STANDS UP FOR FREEDOM concert on Monday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m. at The Town Hall in New York City (123 W. 43 St.) Also joining the previously announced line-up of stars will be performers ALYSHA UMPHRESS (On The Town), KIM BLANCK (Octet) and MILI DIAZ (Wicked).  

The lineup has been announced for the 17th annual Broadway Stands Up For Freedom concert on Monday, October 28th at 7:30 PM at The Town Hall (123 W. 43 St.). The lineup includes Kelli O'Hara, Montego Glover, Judy Kuhn, Phillipa Soo, Eva Noblezada, Krystina Alabado, Julia Murney, Jeannette Bayardelle, Shoba Narayan, Shaina Taub, Starr Busby, L Morgan Lee, We Mcdonald, Liana Stampur, and The Brooklyn Youth Chorus.

Tony Award-winning actress Celia Keenan-Bolger (TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD) and Level Forward, the Tony Award-winning producers of the current revival of OKLAHOMA!, WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME and the upcoming Broadway musical JAGGED LITTLE PILL, will be honored by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU). They will join a star-studded lineup at the NYCLU and ACLU's 17th annual Broadway Stands Up For Freedom concert on Monday, October 28 at 7:30 PM at the Town Hall (123 W. 44 St.) in Manhattan.

The New York theatre community is collaborating with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas survivors and activists fromMarch For Our Lives to present a one-night only concert event: Broadway Fights Back with March For Our Lives.

Signature Theatre will co-host a free event with The Ghostlight Project to kick off The Ghostlight Project's Who's Your Neighbor campaign, a week-long initiative that encourages people to volunteer. The event will take place Monday, May 1 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

The original music from off-Broadway's THE WOODSMAN - The Tragic Story of The Tin Man is available in a solo recording, composed and performed by violinist Edward W. Hardy. The album is produced by Jim McElwaine, and recorded and mixed by Jonathan Jetter at Right Angle Recording, New York, NY. Over the weekend, Broadway For Hillary held 'Broadway Calls for Clinton,' the organization's first action day of phone banking for the Clinton campaign. Broadway's brightest came together for this volunteer organized event for a day of voter outreach in support of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president, and BroadwayWorld has photos below!

The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President) and The Village Voice (Peter Barbey, Owner) have announced the winners of the 61st Annual Obie Awards. Rajiv Joseph's Guards at the Taj, produced by the Atlantic Theater Company, received the Obie Award® for Best New American Play, which is accompanied by a $1,000 prize. Legendary actor/dancer/choreographer Carmen de Lavallade and renowned playwright A.R. Gurney each received a special Obie Award® for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street).

Following two sold-out NYC engagements, The Woodsman, will conclude its critically-lauded Off-Broadway run on Sunday, May 29, 2016 (following the 7:30pm performance) at New World Stages - Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street, NYC). The production began performances on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 and just celebrated it's 100th performance over the weekend. Check out photos from the special night below!

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Rolando Sanz and Strathmore, in association with Bruce Cohen, Robb Nanus and David Bloch will present the world premiere of I Am Anne Hutchinson/I Am Harvey Milk, a musical celebration of two American icons, for a two-night engagement on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Music Center at Strathmore (5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, Maryland).
