The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President) and The Village Voice (Peter Barbey, Owner) have announced the winners of the 61st Annual Obie Awards. Rajiv Joseph's Guards at the Taj, produced by the Atlantic Theater Company, received the Obie Award® for Best New American Play, which is accompanied by a $1,000 prize. Legendary actor/dancer/choreographer Carmen de Lavallade and renowned playwright A.R. Gurney each received a special Obie Award® for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street).

Following two sold-out NYC engagements, The Woodsman, will conclude its critically-lauded Off-Broadway run on Sunday, May 29, 2016 (following the 7:30pm performance) at New World Stages - Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street, NYC). The theatrical result of a unique international partnership between New York's Covenant House International and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London will be showcased this month at the star-studded Crossing Bridges Play Festival in Manhattan. The event, which is being held at the HELEN MILLS Event Space and Theatre on Sunday 22 March 2015, has also been made possible thanks to a line-up of Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winners and nominees, all of whom have generously donated their time and talents to the project.

Batman announced today that child actor Noah Marlowe (Mary Poppins, Act One) will play "Young Harvey Milk" in the New York premiere of Tony and Grammy Award nominee Andrew Lippa's new oratorio, I Am Harvey Milk, set for Monday, October 6 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. Mr. Marlowe originated the role in I Am Harvey Milk's world premiere performance in San Francisco and can be heard on the Original Cast Recording.

<50%, a new Unromantic Comedy by Gianmarco Soresi, will get its world premiere this August at the Kraine Theater (85 East 4th St.) as a part of the New York International Fringe Festival from 8/8-8/23. When Gianmarco and Laura ended their five-year relationship, Gianmarco wrote a play about it. This is that play, they are starring in it together, and all of it is exactly as it happened - at least according to Gianmarco.

San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) named winner for "I Am Harvey Milk" in the Soundtrack / Cast Recording Album category at the 13th Independent Music Awards (The IMAs). "I Am Harvey Milk" is an emotional celebration of an American icon. Part choral work, part theater piece, it weaves the story of Harvey Milk's life -- from boyhood to his rise as the first openly gay man to hold public office in California and to his untimely assassination.

The original cast recording of Andrew Lippa's I Am Harvey Milk was just named by Music Resource Group (MRG) as the winner of Best Soundtrack/Cast Recording in The 13th Independent Music Awards (The IMAs), the influential awards program for independent music and fans. Representing the broad spectrum of today's global independent music scene, the nominees in over 80 Album, Song, Music Video and Design categories were culled from thousands of submissions from North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, Greenland and Europe.
