Broadway soprano and film/tv actress Raissa Katona Bennett brings all the warmth and brightness of her voice and personality to her much-loved Jerome Kern show, making a reappearance at Don't Tell Mama.

Broadway actress-singer, MAC and Bistro Award winner, Raissa Katona Bennett, returns to the cabaret stage with her celebration of the Great American Songbook in Can't Help Singing-The Music of Jerome Kern. The show plays Friday, November 1st at 7 pm and Saturday, November 2nd at 8pm at Don't Tell Mama. Pianist, Mark Berman ('The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel'), joins the singer as Musical Director, with Tom Hubbard on bass.

Kalevala The Musical is a story of ancient legends, told by the spirits of the haunted forest of Kalevala. Passed down from generation to generation, these tales were collected in a book of poems by Elias Lonnrot in 1835, widely cherished across the world. Kalevala has been a source of inspiration to many fantasy authors, including J.R.R. Tolkien.

Musical theater actor and Award-winning New York Cabaret performer Rosemary Loar is bringing her original musical SPOOLIE GIRL to the Actors Temple Theatre (339 W 47th St, New York) for a nine-show run from October 17-27. Loar, who wrote the music and lyrics, and co-wrote the book with her late husband Robert Atwood, calls the show “a family-friendly fractured rock fairy tale.” SPOOLIE GIRL is a suddenly orphaned eco-friendly teenager from Kenya who comes to New York City. Wearing magical curlers called “spoolies” in her hair, she is able to read people's thoughts as songs, while navigating a world consisting of her narcissistic, fashionista Aunt, a Fairy Godmother (but way hipper), and a quirky neighbor who walks an invisible dog. And that's her support group. Along with Loar, the cast features Loar, Claire Lilley, and Michiko Sasaki.

Gianni Valenti, the music world's gift to New York City, has created another venue for the performing arts. Jim Caruso made it official last night as he introduced Lucie Arnaz, who with her longtime friend and music director Ron Abel thrilled a celebrity filled opening night audience.

It was January 25 2011 and Raissa Katona Bennett brought her new show, exploring the music of Jerome Kern to Feinstein's at The Regency Hotel. It got rave reviews from the critics at that time. Amazingly looking and sounding even better, Raissa returned to the cabaret stage last night at The Laurie Beechman Theatre's West Bank Cafe' and Broadwayworld was there. Check out the photos.
