Raissa Katona Bennett Makes Her Green Room 42 This November

Broadway actress-singer Raissa Katona Bennett has a very full and exciting calendar of performances getting underway this week, beginning with the premiere of Spoolie Girl, a new and original fractured rock fairytale by Rosemary Loar. Spoolie Girl runs Oct. 17th through Oct. 27th at Actors Temple Theatre.

In November, The Green Room 42 Presents Raissa Katona Bennett in a CD release celebration for CAN'T HELP SINGING - THE MUSIC OF Jerome Kern. Raissa will perform Nov. 13th and Nov. 27th at 7pm at the posh and funky nightclub on the fourth floor of YOTEL in NYC, in a romantic celebration of Kern's greatest hits.

The repertoire includes "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "All the Things You Are" and "The Way You Look Tonight." Jon Weber, Music Director, and Bassist Tom Hubbard join Raissa for this engagement. CAN'T HELP SINGING - THE MUSIC OF Jerome Kern (LML) was recorded live at Feinstein's at the Regency in 2011, with Musical Director-Arranger Don Rebic on Piano, and Tom Hubbard on Bass.

The Green Room 42 is Broadway's newest urban entertainment cabaret club, that since its opening on Valentine's day has featured Broadway names like Alice Ripley, Telly Leung, Josh Groban, Eva Noblezada, Lillias White, James Snyder, The Skivvies (Lauren Molina & Nick Cearley), Matt Doyle, Constantine Maroulis, and many more. Late November finds Raissa at the beautiful new Magnolia Room in Norwalk, performing What a Wonderful World with musical partner, Kenneth Gartman, on Nov. 23rd, 24th, 25th. Raissa's week of December 4th includes a Holiday Pops solo performance with the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra and Chorale.

Raissa Katona Bennett appeared on Broadway as Christine in Phantom of the Opera, and in the First National Tours of Parade and CATS. She has numerous off-Broadway credits, and recently made her Music Theatre of Connecticut debut as Helen in Fun Home.

Raissa is known as a creative and multi-disciplinary presence in the cultural life of New York City. Her New York nightclub engagements as a headliner include Feinstein's, Metropolitan Room, Iridium and the Laurie Beechman Theatre. She has been a Guest Star in events at The Supper Club, Rainbow Room, 88's, Don't Tell Mama, Chita's, The Algonquin, and Radio City Music Hall, as well as Lincoln Center's Rose Hall and the Town Hall as a guest artist of the Mabel Mercer Cabaret Conventions. Nationally, she has appeared with many symphony orchestras.

In 2010, Raissa received the Bistro Award and 2011 MAC Award for Outstanding Achievement as the creator, producer and host of Concerts for City Greens, a series she founded to expose culturally and socio-economically diverse audiences of all ages to art events in city settings. For nine years through 2016, talent from the theater, jazz and cabaret worlds donated their time and talents to the critically lauded series. In one memorable season, she produced a songwriting contest with a particularly noteworthy panel of judges: Michael John LaChiusa, Amanda McBroom, David Friedman, Ann Hampton Callaway and Neil Sedaka. In 2014, Katona Bennett was awarded a special Ruth Kurtzman Benefit Series MAC Award.
