Summer Place Theatre, Naperville's community theatre since 1966 has announced its summer 2023 season with two great classic and modern musicals.

The performance at hand has its moments, and they are all while Patrick Warburton is on stage. He is a funny actor performing funny roles in funny scripts. I wish this group had just performed the texts as written. There are sound cues, animations, deadly pauses, and unexplainable impersonations which weigh down the tempos of the plays.

Though I’m a huge musical fan, the 1933 film never really made a big impression on me. When I heard 42nd Street was coming to The Goodspeed, I hoped it would change my mind. Spoiler alert: It absolutely did! The timeless musical is a perfect addition to the season. It’s charming and delightful, as well as substantial.

THE INHERITANCE is designed to make an audience feel quite a few different kinds of emotions: sadness certainly over lives lost and squandered; seething bitterness over a country adrift; humor over the many creative ways in which smart people cope and endure; and perhaps even a strong inclination to read or stream E.M. Forster’s HOWARDS END.

A truly fun-filled, ecstatically-performed iteration of this classic musical, MTW's Broadway-caliber production (now on stage at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center through October 30) is a definite must-see. The production's trio of terrific leads---Lesli Margherita, Jeff Skowron, and James Olivas---are themselves reason enough to see it.

The Axelrod Performing Arts Center has announced its 2022/2023 season, which includes Raisin, presented with the approval of the Hansberry Estate in association with production consultant Phylicia Rashad.

Audiences are invited to “Do The Time Warp Again” and join the Lewisville Grand Theater for a screening of the cult-classic science fiction horror film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday, October 28 at 8 p.m.
