The upcoming film adaptation of the acclaimed musical Matilda has found its title star!

The Talkback is a series of in-depth conversations with some of the biggest and hottest names on Broadway, as well as a few folks in the casting and management industries.

Today we rewind to 2017, when Groundhog Day was getting ready for Broadway. Groundhog Day opened on April 17 at the August Wilson Theatre, where it played for 176 performances.

Billy Elliot: The Musical is based on the 2000 film of the same name. The show features music by Elton John, and the book and lyrics by Lee Hall, who also wrote the film's screenplay.

Billy Elliot made a huge splash in London in 2005 before it crossed the Atlantic. The Broadway production opened at the Imperial Theatre on November 13, 2008, where it remained for over three years and 1312 performances. The show made Tony winners of its three pint-sized leading men (David Álvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish) and picked up nine other Tonys that season. The production also notabley starred Haydn Gwynne, Gregory Jbara and a young, future Tony-winner, Santino Fontana.

When Matilda The Musical premiered at the Cambridge Theatre in the West End in 2011, The Guardian gave it five stars and described it as a?oeanarchically joyous, gleefully nasty, and an ingenious musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel of the same name.a?? About nine years after, now a beloved musical for all ages, Matilda The Musical finally opened at The Theatre at Solaire in Manila for a limited three-week engagement.

Hayden Tee, who played Javert in the Broadway revival of Cameron Mackintosh's production of Les Miserables, revisits the role of Miss Trunchbull in the international tour of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical.

One more week has been added to the Manila season of the international tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL. The multi award-winning show, which is making its way to Manila for the very first time, opens at The Theatre at Solaire on 05 March 2020 and will now be running until 22 March 2020.

Universal Theatrical Group, Working Title Films, Greene Light Stage, Michael Coppel Entertainments and Louise Withers Presents are thrilled that Adelaide audiences will finally have a chance to experience the magic of the multi award-winning smash hit Billy Elliot the Musical for the first time. The show officially opens in Adelaide tonight, December 31, at the Festival Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre.
