Mario Cantone Returns To Café Carlyle

Celebrated New York stage actor and stand-up comedian Mario Cantone returns to Café Carlyle, April 7-11. He gained critical acclaim with his Tony-nominated one-man show Laugh Whore, from its appearance at the Cort Theatre on Broadway to the Showtime special. The previous theatre season saw Cantone starring in the Tony-winning Assassins by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman. Both hit shows were directed by four-time Tony-winner Joe Mantello. An accomplished stage actor, Cantone has appeared on Broadway in the role of a?oeBuzza?? in Terrence McNally's award-winning dramatic comedy, Love! Valor! Compassion! and a?oeStephanoa?? in Shakespeare's The Tempest at the Public Theater. Mario Cantone starred in the 2007 release of Sony's animated film, Surf's Up, and appeared in the hilarious film The Aristocrats. On television, Cantone can currently be seen as a?oeAnthony,a?? Charlotte's wedding-planner-with-attitude, now that HBO's Sex and the City is in syndication on TBS, E! and many other stations, as well as the Sex and the City movie franchise.

Manhattan musical duo Michael Garin and Mardie Millit have been known to stir up delicious musical mayhem wherever they go. Michael is a Drama Desk Award-winning composer/lyricist (for Song of Singapore) and Emerson College dropout who has made a living entertaining New Yorkers, playing the piano and singing at the Monkey Bar, the Rainbow Room, the VIP room at Limelight, and the Williamstown Theater Festival, to name a few. Mardie has a degree in Classical Voice from The Ohio State University and spent many years playing roles like Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady and Maria in The Sound of Music in regional theatres around the country before embarking on a cabaret career. They met each other at Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland in 2005 and began performing together soon after, most notably on Sunday nights at the legendary Elaine's, from 2008 until its closing in 2011.

The Jazz Ensembles of Mount Holyoke College present the 15th edition of The Big Broadcast! on Saturday, March 7 at 2PM & 7:30PM at Chapin Auditorium, Mount Holyoke College, in South Hadley, MA. Snow date is Sunday, March 8.. Created and directed by Mark Gionfriddo, who is also onstage as a?oeMatt Morgana??, The Big Broadcast! is a re-creation of a live 1940's radio show featuring the Mount Holyoke College Big Band, Vocal Jazz, and Chamber Jazz Ensembles performing well-known tunes from the swing era and the American songbook. WWLP-TV meteorologist Brian Lapis is emcee a?oeFred Kelleya?? for his 13th consecutive season. Mount Holyoke alum, bassist and singer Caitlin Jaene Mercer, will join The Big Broadcast! as special guest.

The 48th season of the popular Highlights In Jazz series gets off to a roaring start on Feb. 13, 2020, when producer Jack Kleinsinger presents the Highlights In Jazz 47th Anniversary Gala. Featured performers include bassist Jay Leonhart, pianist Tomoko Ohno, drummer Bobby Sanabria, saxophonist Steve Wilson, percussionist/drummer Memo Acevedo, violinist/mandolinist Aaron Weinstein, and drummer Vito Lesczak. And, in keeping with the beloved HIJ tradition, a surprise special guest will be on hand for the concert, held at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center.
