John Pizzarelli And Catherine Russell Perform A Tribute To Nat King Cole And The Ladies Of Song

With the inspiration that Nat King Cole's tv show brought to the American public including talented singers such as Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Carmen McRae and many others, John Pizzarelli and Catherine Russell will be paying homage to Nat King Cole and these iconic singers with their new show, A Tribute to Nat King Cole and Ladies of Song - coming to the Van Wezel on Wednesday, March 18 at 8 p.m. Songs throughout the evening will include some of Nat King Cole's most memorable hits such as "Route 66," "Straighten Up & Fly Right" and "Paper Moon" along with the timeless works from Ladies of Song.

John Pizzarelli has performed on the country's most popular national television shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Great Performances and the talk shows of Jay Leno, David Letterman, Regis Philbin as well as Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The world-renowned guitarist and singer has been hailed by the Boston Globe for "reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz." Over the years, he has toured North America, South America, Asia and Europe.

Catherine Russell received a Grammy Award in 2012 as a featured artist on the soundtrack of the HBO TV series, Boardwalk Empire. She has toured with Jazz at the Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, and appeared with the Count Basie Orchestra, Miami's New World Symphony, The Pasadena Pops Orchestra conducted by Michael Feinstein and the Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra of St. Petersburg, Russia. Her most recent albums, Alone Together in 2019 and Harlem On My Mind in 2016, earned Grammy nominations for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
