North Coast Rep opens its 44th season with the world premiere of Paul Slade Smith’s comedy Beside Myself, running September 10 – October 5, 2025, in Solana Beach. Directed by David Ellenstein, the witty new play explores modern anxiety, identity, and self-discovery. Tickets at northcoastrep.org.

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble (BTE), the professional Equity theater company in residence at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC), has announced Gus Menary as Managing Artistic Director and Daniel Millhouse as Associate Artistic Director for BTE's 2025-2026 Season. Menary and Millhouse officially assume their positions July 1.

Inspired by a 1924 drawing room comedy by Ferenc Molnar, The Angel Next Door was  originally commissioned by David Ellenstein for North Coast Rep and the Laguna Playhouse. Following its September 2023 premiere, the romp has gone on to delight theatergoers all over the country.

With all the political tension going on, the world needs a little laughter and humor to lighten the mood, and the Hot Springs Village Players understood the assignment with their March performance of THE OUTSIDER by Paul Slade Smith, which was presented at the Coronado Center inside the guarded Hot Springs Village. Since this was my first visit with this theatrical troupe, I had no idea how supportive this community was with their friends but let me tell you...the whole village came out! I was impressed.
