Robbie Florian's farce, The Cadaver Synod: A Pope Musical will debut at this year's New York Musical Festival, playing from July 17 - 23 at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street). The Cadaver Synod is directed by Ryan Emmons with musical direction by Dan Garmon and choreography by Gina Duci. Tickets are $27.75 and can be purchased by visiting NYMF.org.

JAG Productions is pleased to announce JAGFest, an annual festival that showcases and celebrates new plays by emerging playwrights of color. Presented February 24 - 27 at various venues in Woodstock & Pomfret, VT, the weekend-long festival of play readings and lectures celebrates and explores diverse, new voices in American theater. JAGFest will include four staged readings over the course of four days, each featuring a post-show conversation with the playwrights, actors, and directors.

Nate Bertone and Salem Theatre Company will produce the New England premiere of Leah Miles' play ENTANGLED. Following the success of last season's Letters From War, Nate Bertone will return to direct the production. ENTANGLED starts performances onWednesday, September 21, 2016 and plays thru Sunday, October 1, 2016 at Salem Theatre Company, located at Shetland Park, 35 Congress Street, 3rd Floor, Salem MA.

POLKADOTS: THE COOL KIDS MUSICAL received its educational premiere presentation at the Philip Chosky Theater in Carnegie Mellon University's Purnell Center for the Arts, March 14, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Conceived by composer and lyricist Douglas Lyons, 'Polkadots' was inspired by the 1957 events of the 'Little Rock Nine' in Arkansas and serves as a colorful musical history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts. Rhode Island's theater community had much to celebrate in 2015.  Outstanding productions graced stages from the East Bay to South County, up-and-coming theatrical companies left their mark on the arts scene, and excellent concerts and dance events made for some of the best performances of the year.

Even though Whoopi Goldberg was the lead producer of SISTER ACT on Broadway, the "Divine Musical" raising the roof at the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Mass. is not the SISTER ACT of Whoopi Goldberg's 1992 hit movie. Yes, the sassy attitude and jubilant spirit of the nightclub singer taking involuntary refuge in a cloistered convent are still intact, but the revised book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner and original score by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater make this jaunty screen-to-stage adaptation an all new joy to behold.
