An utterly convincing rollercoaster of life, death, and the world around us. See what our critic had to say.

Review: THE INHERITANCE at Round House Theatre

The Inheritance (as in the title of the same award-winning epic play now being presented in a moving and masterly production at Bethesda’s Round House Theatre) is the legacy that must be respected, remembered and passed on from generation to generation so that a record of the tortuous winding road of LGBTQ history can never be forgotten or erased.

Interview: Theatre Life with Katie Kleiger

I often say that certain things in the theatre are a total mystery to me. Today’s subject Katie Kleiger is currently living her theatre life as Jacqueline de Bellefort in a true mystery of the theatre Agatha Christie’s Death On The Nile. The show runs through December 29th in Arena’s Kreeger Theater space.

Review: DEATH ON THE NILE at Arena Stage

With Ken Ludwig's adaptation of Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile, Arena Stage's new Artistic Director, Hana S. Sharif, debuts as Director. The sumptuousness of the production may not quite balance with the slightness of the script, but as amusement during the holiday season, Death on the Nile offers fine performances, the fun of puzzling out a mystery, and stunningly beautiful visual elements.

Mosaic Theater Company will present a workshop for POSTMORTEM, a new play that combines true crime with family drama to tell a story about one woman’s reckoning with her difficult childhood. Learn how to purchase tickets.

Review: PROBLEMS BETWEEN SISTERS at Studio Theatre

The submerged and, often, long-sublimated divisions and resentments and life motifs of two estranged sisters come to the fore in the visceral and joltingly immersive play entitled Problems Between Sisters. The domestic squabbles of siblings have long been given ample space in plays, films, and novels but, in this fine Studio Theatre production, the playwright Julia May Jonas delves into a feminist mirroring and elucidation of themes from playwright Sam Shepard’s well-known play True West. In this intriguing play, the battling brothers become two sisters, California becomes Vermont and screenwriting becomes visual and performance art.

PROBLEMS BETWEEN SISTERS Debuts Next Month at Studio Theatre

The world premiere of Problems Between Sisters, the incendiary new play by New York Times best-selling author Julia May Jonas, will debut in May at Studio Theatre with a cast of four extraordinary actresses: Annie Fox, Stephanie Janssen, Maya Jackson, and Nancy Robinette.
