Monk Parrots Brings PEARLS FOR SPURS to New York

Monk Parrots will present Pearls for Spurs, a new dramedy by Gates Leonard and directed by Luke Leonard, which runs from August 1 to August 11, 2024, in a limited engagement at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres.

Notable agents of chaos, Psycho Clan, will return this summer with their ridiculous story of an 80’s/90’s action hero in Timothy Haskell’s The Rise and Fall, Then Brief and Modest Rise Followed By A Relative Fall Of… Jean Claude Van Damme As Gleaned by a Single Reading of His Wikipedia Page Months Earlier (can be shortened to The Rise and Fall Of Jean Claude Van Damme). 

Gertrude Opera and Monk Parrots Present David Lang's LOVE FAIL

Weaving fragments from medieval versions of Tristan and Isolde with new text, David Lang's a cappella chamber opera love fail puts a contemporary lens on the classic love story. Presented as a Yarra Valley Opera Festival headline event, this collaboration with the acclaimed Monk Parrots, USA, will stream online from the 1st of Nov through the 30th.

Monk Parrots Presents Streaming Premiere of AFTER AN EARLIER INCIDENT

N.E.S.T (Now Enjoy Streaming Theater) by Monk Parrots  will present the Streaming Premiere of After an Earlier Incident (A Dyschronic Romeo and Juliet), an experimental play exploring the concept of hauntology, i.e., the past inside the present.

Playwright Minghao Tu Brings FOR THE SMOG IS RISING to NYPL

Voyage Theater Company/PARTS UNKNOWN Play Reading Series will present a staged reading of FOR THE SMOG IS RISING by Minghao Tu, directed by Luke Leonard, at the 53rd Street New York Public Library (18 W 53 Street, across the street from MOMA), Thursday August 15 at 7pm. Admission is FREE and open to the public, but reservations are highly encouraged. Please RSVP here. The performance will run approximately 75 minutes with no intermission. There will be a brief talkback with the playwright and director immediately following the reading.

NNPN Rolling World Premieres Roll Into Iowa City And Philadelphia!

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, announces the continuation of two Rolling World Premieres: Apple Season by E.M. Lewis, which opens in Iowa City at Riverside Theatre (running March 29-April 20, 2019), and Gabriel Jason Dean's Heartland at Philadelphia's InterAct Theatre Company (running March 29-April 21, 2019).

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, announces the continuation of three Rolling World Premieres: Apples in Winter by Jennifer Fawcett at Indianapolis's Phoenix Theatre (January 11-27, 2019), Red Bike by Caridad Svich at Know Theatre of Cincinnati (January 11-February 2, 2019), and Gabriel Jason Dean's Heartland at New Repertory Theatre (Watertown: January12-February 9, 2019) and the VORTEX (Austin: January 17-February 9, 2019).
