The Outsiders, which won four Tony Awards in 2024 (including Best Musical), has offically recouped its Broadway investment, becoming the first new musical to do so since & Juliet, which opened in 2022. The Broadway production recouped its $22 million capitalization costs as of the week ending December 28, 2025.

When I reviewed it on Broadway, several year ago, my capsule judgment stated: SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS THE BROADWAY MUSICAL is a wonder of neon psychedelic delight starring a character-perfect lead surrounded by a fun-centered cast which should delight adults and children of all ages!” 

A second location of “One Shubert Alley' will open in March. “One Shubert Alley – Broadway” is located adjacent to the Shubert Organization’s Winter Garden Theatre at 1638 Broadway.

On August 24th and 25th, The Musical Theater Project will open its 26th season with GREAT 21STCENTURY MUSICALS, a sampling and celebration brand-new musicals, with, according to co-host and author of the program, Sheri Gross, “a glance back at some new works from composers that have been covered before and fit into the timing.”

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Regina Spektor is making her Great White Way debut with a series of shows at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Regina Spektor: Live On Broadway will see performances on June 20, 21, 22, 25 and 26.

Several times a year I go to review some of what's on stage on Broadway. This year, I expanded the experience by accompanying the Baldwin Wallace University Musical Theatre program's fifteen seniors.

'Urinetown: The Musical' opened on Broadway in 2001, but its path from lyricist Greg Kotis traveling Europe, encountering a pay toilet, getting an idea for a story, joining with Mark Hollman, writing the lyrics together, Hollman writing the music, previewing the show at the New York's Fringe Festival, and getting it on Broadway, was filled with pitfalls. Mainly, producers were turned off by the title.

Leading Broadway producing company The Araca Group (Urinetown, SpongeBob SquarePants) has today announced they they've extended their arrangement with producer Michael Barra to lead their Media & Entertainment division.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, June 26 at 10:00am ET for SpongeBob SquarePants on Broadway at The Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway - Broadway at 47th Street). Preview performances begin Monday, November 6th with an official opening on Monday, December 4th.

Leading Broadway producing company The Araca Group (Urinetown, Wicked, Disgraced) today announced plans to launch a collection of Hollywood-inspired stage plays to be licensed to professional and amateur theaters around the world.

Producers Work Light Productions (RENT, Mamma Mia!, Motown The Musical) and The Araca Group (Urinetown, Wicked), in association with Aged in Wood and Michael Barra, today announced that a stage production of the murder mystery comedy thriller CLUE will tour North America beginning in the fall of 2018.

This fall Lincoln Center Theater, in association with The Araca Group, will produce Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar's new play JUNK, directed by Doug Hughes. The production will begin previews Thursday, September 14 and open on Thursday, October 12 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Leading theater production company The Araca Group today announced plans to bring the classic television series Family Ties to the stage, to be adapted by playwright and recent Kleban Award winner Daniel Goldstein.

Araca will be adapting the world's favorite family gaming brand, MONOPOLY, for Broadway. Monopoly: The Musical, Hasbro's first-ever Broadway production, is currently finalizing its creative team and will announce further details shortly.
