A new musical, Arnold! Da Schwarzenegger Musical Parody is holding an invited reading in New York on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023, featuring Andy Karl as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Merritt David Janes as Middle Arnold, and Jaxon James as Young Arnold.

The 5th Avenue Theatre has announced that Broadway's Kate Rockwell (Mean Girls, Bring it On: The Musical, Legally Blonde) and Hunter Foster (Little Shop of Horrors, The Producers, The Bridges of Madison County) will star as Ellen and Clark Griswold in the upcoming world premiere of the laugh-out-loud new musical comedy The Griswolds' Broadway Vacation.

Florida Repertory Theatre's production of 'Buddy: the Buddy Holly Story' is now extended to April 24th in the Historic Arcade Theatre. 'Buddy' opened to critical acclaim on March 18th, and has been breaking box office records and garnering praise from critics and audiences alike.

Directed by Florida Rep's Associate Artistic Director, Jason Parrish, Florida Repertory Theatre's production of BUDDY: THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY tells the story of the iconic rock 'n' roll sensation, Buddy Holly, and how he changed the face of popular music sixty years ago. 

Florida Repertory Theatre’s 2021-2022 Season continues the rock ‘n’ roll sensation, “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” by Alan Janes. The musical tells the story of Buddy’s rise to stardom and how he transformed popular music almost overnight and plays in the Historic Arcade Theatre from March 18 to April 13. The run includes four nearly sold-out previews from March 15 to 17.

Last night was the Season 3 Premiere of Nikki M. James and Amy Wolks hilarious, fast-paced game show featuring Broadway panelists as they lie their way to the top. Hosted by MAC Award winner Amy Wolk with William TN Hall at the piano, and a panel of Broadway favorites.

Amy Wolk and Nikki M. James present I Only Have Lies For You, a live gameshow that pits Broadway panelists against each other in a lying contest, now staring its THIRD hit season! Two teams of three will go head-to-head telling stories, some of which may not be true---it is up to the other team to guess, Truth or Lie. Featuring musical direction by William TN Hall and others, panelists will defend their stories by all means possible, including song and dance. Hosted by MAC Award winner Amy Wolk, I Only Have Lies For You is presented at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York City, and is being recorded as a podcast, which can be found on iTunes.

"Where Did the Rock Go?" is one of the lovelier ballads Andrew Lloyd Weber has written - redolent of longing for a younger self unencumbered by the responsibilities and attendant anxieties of adulthood. The title phrase is set to one of Lloyd Weber's patented ear worms that I defy you to get out of your head days after seeing the show, maybe ever. It comes in the middle of Act 2 of "School of Rock," the stage adaptation of the popular 2003 film, playing through Sunday, May 9th at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.

The national tour of SCHOOL OF ROCK, featuring a remarkable cast of child rock stars, is funny, hopeful, and a head-banging good time.

Say what you want about Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber but at least he's consistent. Consistently borrowing from others as is evident in the most recent offering from the Paramount Theatre, 'his' musical version of the 2003 movie 'The School of Rock'. And while it has adorable kids, absolutely shredding it with their vocals and musical chops on stage, it also has utterly forgettable and repetitious songs (at least the ones actually written by Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater) and a lead who takes mugging to a whole new, annoying level.

Another school year may be coming to an end, but school is just starting at Des Moines Performing Arts as “School of Rock: The Musical” opened up April 30 for a limited 1 week engagement as part of the Willis Broadway Series. This production is not to be missed, especially if you are wanting to introduce your children to the world of theatre. While the main characters in the show may be adults, it's the kids who are the stars of this show.
