Following the announcement of their Opening Night Film, Yen Tan's award-winning AIDS drama 1985, NewFest today announced the full lineup of their 30th annual celebration of the year's best LGBT films from around the world. The program of more than 140 narrative features, documentaries, episodic series and shorts runs from October 24-30 at the SVA Theatre, Cinépolis Chelsea, and The LGBT Community Center in New York City.

Austin-based rock artist Jonathon Zemek gears up for the official release of his comic book/rock opera project 'Hillcrest' this weekend. The album part of the project will be out everywhere music can be streamed/bought - including Austin's own Waterloo Records - while the comic book can be purchased at this link, or at Zemek's booth at this year's Wizard World Austin convention starting this Friday, Sept. 21 through Sunday Sept. 23 at the Austin Convention Center. 'Hillcrest' can be found at booth 1032 in Artist Alley at Wizard World Austin. At the booth, merchandise, CDs and books will be available and Zemek will be joined by 'Hillcrest' illustrator Chris Rogers on Friday and Sunday, who will be live-sketching for interested patrons, as well as producer Matt Smith and vocalist Andrea Lindzey on Saturday. The 70th Emmy Awards will telecast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, September 17, (8:00-11:00 PM ET/5:00-8:00 PM PT) on NBC. Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost and Michael Che will serve as co-hosts. The 70th Emmy Awards will be executive produced by Lorne Michaels (Saturday Night Live; The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon).

The Television Academy and Executive Producer Lorne Michaels today announced the second group of talent set to present the iconic Emmy statuette at the 70th Emmy® Awards on Monday, September 17.

Soul-rock, Austin-based musician Jonathon Zemek premieres the new single 'Death of Me' from the multimedia project 'Hillcrest' today with Glide Magazine. The premiere can be found here. 'Death of Me' is the second single off 'Hillcrest,' and features Matt Smith, the album's producer, on vocals. 'Hillcrest' is a rock opera with an accompanying comic book depicting a fictional coming of age story penned by Zemek and Smith. The project will be released Sept. 21, 2018, premiering at the Wizard World Austin pop culture convention (taking place Sept. 21-23 and located at the Austin Convention Center). At Wizard World Austin, people can meet Zemek and see and purchase the comic book as well as the album. 'Hillcrest' features Guy Forsyth, Malford Milligan, Matt Smith, Andrea Lindzeyand Roderick Sanford who lend their voices to characters in the story of 'Hillcrest,' while the book is illustrated by local street artist Chris Rogers. For more information, please see here. 

Matt Smith is joining the STAR WARS: EPISODE IX cast, according to Variety. It's unknown who Smith will be playing in the film, which is currently in production in the U.K.

From 22 August 2018, term will begin for the year three cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Olivier award-winning production of School of Rock - The Musical at the newly named Gillian Lynne Theatre. Today sees the release of a further 350,000 tickets for this hit West End production, now booking to 20 October 2019. Based on the iconic film of the same title, School of Rock - The Musical sees the kids from Dewey's band compete in the legendary Battle of the Bands and embrace the power of rock!

Monstrous Little Theatre Company (MLTC) kicked off their 2018-2019 season Thursday night with a staged reading, and the Sioux Falls debut, of THE HEART PLAY by Matthew Stoffel.  THE HEART PLAY is the story of the Hagen family as they cope with the reality that family matriarch, April (Cindy Bakke), is dying of heart disease.  When April is denied placement on the heart transplant list her three sons, Drake (Casey Ring), Ben (Nick Suridis), and Sam (Matt Smith), attempt to find another way of getting their mother the new heart she needs to survive.
