Today Netflix announced a lease agreement to keep the theater open and save the beloved institution. The company plans to use the theater for special events, screenings, and theatrical releases of its films. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.

Toronto's homegrown hit, PIAF/DIETRICH is being extended yet again: two final weeks of performances have been added to the run. The show will now close on Sunday January 5, 2020. The new block of tickets will go on sale to the public on Wednesday November 20th.

The names Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich still hold weight decades after their glory days, and Mirvish's production of PIAF/DIETRICH (directed by Gordon Greenberg) makes it easy to understand why. The sheer star power of the two titular women, embodied here by a powerhouse cast and set at major points in each one's personal lives is the kind of complicated, beautiful story of female relationships that the world needs now more than ever.
