Review: THE RAILWAY CHILDREN, Glyndebourne

Composer Mark-Anthony Turnage and his partner Rachael Hewer eschewed making banana bread during the Covid lockdown and decided to write an opera. After the pandemic, they went on to work on other projects, but unexpectedly Glyndebourne agreed to stage their new work, which made its world premiere last week.

Northern Ballet's THE NUTCRACKER Returns To Theatres This Festive Season

This winter Northern Ballet's enchanting festive favourite The Nutcracker, returns to stages across the UK, taking audiences on a sparkling adventure as one child's Christmas dreams come true. The Nutcracker will open at Woking New Victoria Theatre on Thursday 10 November and tour to Nottingham Theatre Royal, Norwich Theatre Royal and Hull New Theatre before arriving at Leeds Grand Theatre for a three week run over the Christmas period.

The Nigel Havers Theatre Company to Tour with Noël Coward's PRIVATE LIVES

Following breaking box office records in Bath, Richmond, Chichester and Cambridge, Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Moss Empires have announced 2022 tour dates for The Nigel Havers Theatre Company production of Noel Coward’s PRIVATE LIVES. This is the inaugural show for The Nigel Havers Theatre Company, which will be touring the country with a line-up of theatrical gems. The UK Tour of PRIVATE LIVES will visit Theatre Royal Brighton from Tuesday 12 to Saturday 16 April 2022.

Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Moss Empires will present The Nigel Havers Theatre Company in Noel Coward's gloriously entertaining PRIVATE LIVES.  This will be the inaugural show for The Nigel Havers Theatre Company, which will be touring the country with a wonderful line-up of theatrical gems. 

Opera Holland Park Reveals Casts For 2020 Season Of Firsts

Tchaikovsky's perfect tragedy of first love, Eugene Onegin, opens the season, with Anush Hovhannisyan as Tatyana. Critically acclaimed for her role as Violetta in La traviata for Scottish Opera in 2017, and nominated in the 2018 International Opera Awards, she makes her OHP debut. Also appearing at OHP for the first time is the Australian baritone Samuel Dale Johnson as Onegin. British lyric soprano Amanda Roocroft makes her role debut as Madame Larina, having performed the role of Tatyana to great acclaim internationally. Fresh from success at Opera North and the Royal Opera, Nicky Spence returns to OHP as Lensky. Emma Stannard sings the role of Tatyana's sister Olga, with Kathleen Wilkinson as their nurse, Filippyevna.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Bristol Hippodrome

Originally premiering in 2003, David Bintley's Beauty and the Beast may be turning sixteen this year, but this beautifully haunting and evocative adaptation of the original 18th century gothic fairy-tale proves its spell is as potent as ever.
