Court Theatre, under the continuing leadership of Charles Newell, Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director, and Angel Ysaguirre, Executive Director, has announced casting for August Wilson's King Hedley II, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. King Hedley II runs September 12 - October 13, 2019 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave. The press opening is Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 7:30pm.

Everyone loves a little nostalgia, especially when it comes to their favorite television shows and movies growing up. For millennials and Gen Z-ers, these probably include a few DCOMs (Disney Channel Original Movie) and series. Several of the stars of these films and TV shows have gone on to further their acting and singing careers on Broadway, and some even got their start on the stage. Below is a list of stars that you may or may not know have a few theatre credits under their belt!

GLSEN, the leading education organization working to create safe and inclusive K-12 schools for LGBTQ youth, is pleased to announce that it will honor Amazon Studios with the Visionary Award at the 2019 GLSEN Respect Awards – Los Angeles.  Amazon Studios Chief Jennifer Salke will accept the award on behalf of the organization.  As previously announced, Apple CEO Tim Cook will receive the Champion Award.

This summer, two-time Emmy Award and five-time Grammy Award nominee Michael Feinstein returns to Feinstein's54 Below in his all-new show I Happen To Like New York.  Performances are August 6 - 23 at 7PM. $85 - $105 cover charge, $120 - $130 VIP seating and $150-$165 premium seating. $25 food and beverage minimum.

Mr. Finn's Cabaret at Barrington Stage Company has become one of the countries leading presenters of the art form of cabaret. The road going from Birdland and Feinstein's/54 Below to Pittsfield Ma. now also comes from Las Vegas. Clint Holmes, one of the main attractions on the strip and in nightclubs around the country came to Barrington Stage Company last night and made the Berkshires and Mr. Finn's officially become part of the nightclub circuit.

Lorna Brown, Raghad Chaar and Yoli Fuller join the previously announced Zoe Wanamaker and Zrinka Cviteši? to complete the casting for Two Ladies, a new play by Nancy Harris to be directed by Nicholas Hytner at the Bridge Theatre.

The Marsh San Francisco announces an extension of Not a Genuine Black Man, the longest running solo show in San Francisco theater history. This funny, honest, and harrowing piece by award-winning actor, playwright, and talk show host Brian Copeland recounts the struggles Copeland faced growing up in what was declared one of the most racist suburbs in America

Not even close to legal drinking age, Southern California schoolboys  PUSHING VERONICA are a pack of proud 'nerdy misfit kids' that deliver a striking view into the pressures faced upon today's youth with their self-described brand of 'Ballpit Rock.' Mixing pop-punk melodies with crunchy rock riffs, the quartet have sprung to life the debut single and music video from their upcoming LP due in 2020 with the tongue-in-cheek track, 'Dead Girl.'

New York Stage and Film has announced the mentors and artists for its 201920 Filmmakers' Workshop. Mentors include Luis Castro (The Pop Culture Collaborative), writerproducer Bash Doran ("Traitors," "Boardwalk Empire"),  Jessica Goldberg ("The Path", "Parenthood"), William Goldberg (Abominable, Infinitely Polar Bear),  Rajiv Joseph (Draft Day, "Nurse Jackie"), Toni Kalem (A Slipping Down Life), Max Mayer (Adam, As Cool As I Am), Shelby Stone ("The Chi", Bessie), and Amy Robinson (After Hours, Julie & Julia).

Tony award winner Cady Huffman returns to The Green Room 42 with her critically acclaimed sold out one woman show Miss. Peggy Lee: In Her Own Words and Music for two more shows on Weds. July 24th and Weds. July 31st. Broadway World's own Richard Ridge caught up with Cady and her long time collaborator, writer director Will Nunziata during a break in rehearsal to chat about bringing the life and career of the legendary Peggy Lee to the stage.

In their first musical together, Kayla Rivera ('In the Heights,' 'Side Show') and Nick Varricchio ('A Chorus Line,' 'Saturday Night Fever') play songwriting duo Carole King and Gerry Goffin in the Philippine premiere of the Broadway hit 'Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.' The critically-acclaimed local production, which is the second 20th-anniversary offering of Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group, in partnership with ABS-CBN, closes its limited 4-weekend run at the Meralco Theatre in Pasig City today, with performances at 2 and 8 p.m. Tickets are still available at TicketWorld.com.ph or at the venue.

What do you do when some Bozo commits murder? You go see the newest show being offered by Padgett Productions, CLOWN BAR, at Immersive KC (formerly Prohibition Hall) in Kansas City. The hilarious campy comedy written by Adam Szymkowicz runs Friday and Saturday nights through July 20. This 65-minute production is riddled with sidesplitting humor, musical numbers, and hilarious choreography.

Peninsula Players Theatre, America's oldest professional resident summer theater, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Wendy Halloran and Peggy Reineck to its Board of Directors. Halloran and Reineck's election to the Board of Directors is for a three-year term.

French producer, composer, and songwriter Petit Biscuit has teamed up with director Pierre Saba-Aris and production company PANAMÆRA for an absolutely stunning visual take on his recent single,“We Were Young (ft. Today's subjects Deb Gottesman and Claire Schoonover are currently living their theatre lives onstage at Keegan Theatre playing two very resourceful and cutthroat senior citizens in the DC area premiere of David Lindsay-Abaire's Ripcord. The production runs through July 6th.
