The American Theatre Wing announced today that the recipients of the 2013 Jonathan Larson Grants are writing team Joshua Salzman (music) & Ryan Cunningham (book and lyrics); and Kamala Sankaram. The prestigious grants, totaling $10,000, will be presented on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at a private event at the WNYC Greene Space. The event will feature special performances of the recipients' work.

This production turns the 9th floor of the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre into Rothko's studio and gives audience members an intimate look at the brilliant and volatile artist as he undertakes a new commission. This show also marks the first production-specific collaboration between DTC and the Dallas Museum of Art, which will provide patrons and visitors the opportunity to learn about the world of Rothko by seeing the play at DTC, viewing original works of art by Rothko and his contemporaries at the DMA and engaging in special events about the work with both organizations. Red opens with preview performances tonight, February 7 and runs through Sunday, March 24 and is the first show ever to be performed on the 9th floor of the Wyly Theatre.

The Downtown Players, part of Lambertville, NJ's Downtown Performing Arts Center, are gearing up for the world premiere of Legally Blonde The Musical, Jr. Set for two performances, the brand new musical based on the hit Broadway show and movie will be performed on Saturday, February 9 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 10 at 3 pm at the South Hunterdon Regional High School Theatre located at 301 Mount Airy-Harbourton Road in Lambertville, NJ.
Dallas Theater Center patrons donated $63,186.72 to the North Texas Food Bank during DTC's annual production of A Christmas Carol. The previous record of $48,988.85 was set in 2010. During the five-year partnership with NTFB, DTC patrons have donated $239,918.35 to the organization.

Today, Nov. 14, Wagner College Theatre opens its Main Stage production of "Legally Blonde: The Musical," with book by Heather Hach and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin. The musical is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon. The show runs tonight, Nov. 14-17, takes a break for Thanksgiving week, and has its concluding run Nov. 28 through Dec. 2.
Dallas Theater Center and the North Texas Food Bank are teaming up for the fifth consecutive year to increase awareness about hunger in North Texas and to provide assistance to those in need. This partnership has become tradition for the two organizations, taking place during DTC's annual production of A Christmas Carol. So far, DTC patrons have donated over $175,000 to NTFB.
