Crown Center Schedule of Events June 2011- August 2012

This evening, Wednesday, May 25, 2011, Christine Vachon (Producer, Far From Heaven, Boys Don't Cry, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), fashion guru and author Carson Kressley of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, talk show host Phil Donahue, food critic and Chopped host Ted Allen, and openly-gay and HIV-positive New York State Senator Tom Duane will host a cocktail reception and preview screening from 6:30-8:30 PM at New York City's LGBT Community Center, 208 West 13th Street (between 7th & Greenwich Avenues) in Manhattan to raise funds for ACT UP!, a documentary film currently in production with the expectation of premiering at Sundance 2012, followed by wide theatrical release and television broadcast.

The 2011 Drama Desk Awards are set to feature a star-stuuded A star-studded list of presenters has been assembled to participate in the 56th Annual Drama Desk Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan Center, it was announced here today by Robert R. Blume, Executive Producer of the Drama Desk Awards.

Westchester's John Treacy Egan, from the cast of Broadway's Sister Act, and Brad Oscar, Tony nominee for The Producers and currently in The Addams Family, will host an evening of song and tribute to honor Westchester theatrical director and composer George Puello.

Artists Rep is pleased to present the World Premiere of Richard Kramer's striking new adaptation of one of literature's most-read and referenced plays, The Cherry Orchard. Peer into an avant-garde interpretation of this classic Chekhov story that takes on a magical quality as a family grapples with the impending foreclosure of their estate. The production will close on May 22, 2011.

The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) is pleased to announce the extension of Galt MacDermot?s (HAIR) musical, The Human Comedy. With libretto by William Dumaresq based on the story by William Saroyan, the highly acclaimed production is directed by APAC Artistic Director Tom Wojtunik and music directed by Jeffrey Campos, reuniting IT Award Nominee Christine O?Grady as choreographer, IT Award Recipient Michael P. Kramer as set designer, Hunter Kaczorowski as costume designer, David A. Thomas as sound designer, and casting by wojcik|seay casting.

WINE LOVERS, THE WINE TASTING MUSICAL which has enjoyed Sold Out runs in New York City and New Orleans, will kick off it's upcoming 2012 National Tour with a limited two-week run in Saratoga Springs, NY at the Universal Preservation Hall.

Tony Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction will be recreated for the tour by David Saint, the Associate Director on Broadway.
