For generations of Atlantans, the holiday season isn’t complete without a visit to the Alliance Theatre’s beloved production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Now celebrating its 36th year, this perennial favorite returns to the Coca-Cola Stage from November 15 through December 24, 2025, with a fresh perspective: Amanda Watkins, the Alliance’s Director of New Work, steps into the director’s chair for the first time, guiding David H. Bell’s acclaimed adaptation into a new era.
There’s a particular thrill in seeing a classic American play reimagined with both reverence and boldness. Theatrical Outfit’s new production of Tennessee Williams’ THE GLASS MENAGERIE, which opens its 49th season and plays through November 23rd, does just that. It effectively reminds us why this memory play endures more than 80 years after its premiere, while offering a fresh perspective and a deep, emotional resonance that will keep Atlanta audiences talking long after the final bows.

The Alliance Theatre's annual production of the Charles Dickens classic, A CHRISTMAS CAROL adapted by David H. Bell and directed by Leora Morris, runs on the Coca-Cola Stage until December 24, 2022. Described as 'one of Atlanta's most treasured holiday traditions,' this production is Alliance’s 34th. It is also a remount of last year's reimagined staging, design, and performance features 'stunning new costumes, beautiful live music, exciting puppetry, and a reconceived set design.' It's easy to say Alliance's A CHRISTMAS CAROL is a holiday gift in itself. The story is a timeless reminder of what a little kindness, generosity, and gratitude can do to not only change your own life, but also your community that surrounds you.

The Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists. Sheltered, the 14th competition winner, is the story of one American couple's harrowing decision to rescue 50 Jewish children from Europe during WWII. Sheltered is written by Alix Sobler who recently earned her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. During the Alliance's season-long renovation, Sheltered will be staged at Actor's Express, March 1 - 25, 2018.

The Alliance Theatre is pleased to announce the three artistic projects chosen for development during its third annual Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab. Each project will receive $10,000 to use toward further exploration and development, as well as access to the Alliance's artistic, educational, and production staffs, and rehearsal spaces. The lab productions will be presented in free performances May 15-17, 2017.
