According to a report in Variety, The Heart of Rock and Roll, is still beating. The new musical inspired by the music of Huey Lewis and The News, is still aiming for a Broadway bow.

Abingdon Theatre Company (Chad Austin, Artistic Director) will present a one night only benefit performance of “Date of a Lifetime” a new musical with book and lyrics by Carl Kissin, music by Robert Baumgartner, Jr. with musical direction by Isaac Harlan and directed by Nathan Brewer. Starring Broadway's Katie Rose Clarke (Wicked, Light in the Piazza) and Noah Weisberg (South Pacific, Legally Blonde), the “date of a lifetime” will take place at Theater 71 (152 West 71st Street – just east of Broadway) on Monday, February 17th at 7pm..

Just last night, ROSIE'S THEATER KIDS celebrated their 16th anniversary by honoring Elizabeth Matthews, CEO of ASCAP and actor, director, writer, producer, and philanthropist Ben Stiller at their annual gala hosted by Rosie O'Donnell at New York Marriott Marquis.

Kristin Chenoweth will return to the Broadway stage in a live concert celebrating the release of her new album FOR THE GIRLS (Concord Records, produced by Steve Tyrell), with Music Direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, Directed by Richard Jay-Alexander and Presented by James L. Today, the producers of The Heart of Rock and Roll, the electrifying new musical inspired by the music of Huey Lewis and The News, announced that they are moving forward with their four-week work session on Monday, February 25, as scheduled. The work session will culminate in three invitation-only presentations taking place on Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22. The work session is the first to move forward under the newly negotiated AEA agreement.

Lindsay Mendez and Ryan Scott Oliver's ACTOR THERAPY is pleased to announce that enrollment is open for their third annual Summer Intensive. This intensive is comprised of two separate programs: College Prep (ages 15-19), running July 15-26; and New York or Bust! (ages 18-28), running July 29-August 9 in New York City.
