Hedwig and the Angry Inch has kick stepped its way onto the Pompano Beach Cultural Center stage, with innovative emotional drives and unbelievable passions behind the two starring performers, which director Skye Whitcomb bond in a tirade of pained punk sincerity.

The Outre Theatre Company announces its final production of the 2017/18 season, the sensational Hedwig and the Angry Inch, book by John Cameron Mitchell, music and lyrics by Stephen Trask. Starring the multi-talented Mike Westrich as Hedwig and the award-winning Kat Gold as Yitzhak, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a glorious celebration of the genderqueer and the outsider, and is a fitting capstone to Outre's sixth full season.

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller - not necessarily household names in today's pop music or theatrical worlds. But for decades - especially from the mid 1950's to the mid 1960's - Leiber and Stoller were one of America's most successful songwriting teams. Stage Door Theatre will honor this iconic duo when they present Smokey Joe's Caf - The Songs of Leiber and Stoller, a compendium of some of their greatest hits, in the popular Margate venue's intimate Theatre 2 from December 15th through January 14th. The South Florida Silver Palm Theatre Awards, founded ten years ago to honor theatrical excellence in South Florida, has announced that this year it will present the coveted award to 28 individuals and organizations.

Stage Door Theatre presents the musical Saturday Night Fever featuring music and lyrics by the Bee Gees, and a book by Nan Knighton (in collaboration with Arlene Phillips, Paul Nicholas, and Robert Stigwood). The musical is based on both Nik Cohn's 1975 New York Magazine article 'Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night', and the block-buster film that rocketed John Travolta to fame it inspired in 1977, Saturday Night Fever.

Saturday Night Fever caused a sensation when it debuted in movie theatres in 1977.   The film's earthy dialogue, gritty story, and throbbing disco music permeated American pop culture for years. 

The Outre Theatre Company presents the first production of its 2017/18 season, George Orwell's 1984, in its new home at the recently opened Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The play 1984 is based on George Orwell's dystopian novel published in 1949. In 2005 the novel was chosen by Time magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels. Many of its terms and concepts, such as Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, cold war, and Newspeak have permanently entered into common use since its first publication.

The multiple Tony Award-winning musical Nine will open in Theatre 1 at Stage Door Theatre on April 28, and run through June 11.

Political humor and an abundance of urine aren't an obvious match for downtown Lake Worth's theatre scene. Artistic director Jodie Dixon-Mears and director Clayton Phillips decided, after many years of waiting, that the time was ripe to throw Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis' satirical masterpiece at the Palm Beaches. Boasting a cast of strong vocalists, and the comedic timing this show requires, Urinetown at the Lake Worth Playhouse is a strong stream of wit.
