On Sunday, March 10, 2019 7pm, the international performer presents an original production, 'The Butterflies Show', at The Triad Theatre on 158 West 72nd Street*NY, NY*10023. This contemporary variety show is hyped concert meets Broadway meets game show meets family reunion! Mixed with fun, laughter, joy and surprise, 'The Butterflies Show' will showcase the music of the many storied women that laid the bricks upon which modern artists now tread. Those legends include Chaka, Barbra, Diana, Aretha, Tina, Dolly and more. From the moment guests enter the theater and are greeted by Butterflies hostesses, they are enveloped in an atmosphere of love and inspiration.

The personal becomes the political when passionately-opinionated African American women speak their minds on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Black Lives Matter, missing black women and girls, black-on-black crime, and male/female relationships in a soul-stirring mix of song, dance, poetry, and prose. The interrelated dramatic monologues range from tragedy to comedy in a 'newsical' revue that examines pressing social issues from an African-American female perspective. Sistas on Fire! A Newsical uses theatre to provoke thought, encourage social activism, and build bridges that cross race, class, gender and culture. In short, it's For Colored Girls for the New Millennium.

The Skivvies brought their holiday best to Joe's Pub on December 2, with their show 'I Touch My Elf.' The show featured special guests Sierra Boggess, Alice Ripley, Nick Adams, Wesley Taylor, Nathan Lee Graham, Claybourne Elder, Travis Kent, Natalie Joy Johnson, Juson Williams, and Mike Viruet.

Singers from the Black Broadway community have joined together to create a music and mental health album of inspirational cover songs. In just two rehearsals, the Darkness RISING cast recorded an album intended for anyone who lives with anxiety, depression, bipolar, or other mental illnesses. Music has been proven be therapeutic and healing. It can provide emotional support, increase motivation, and offer an outlet for expression of feelings.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, and Broadway Celebrates Awareness of Women's Suffrage (BCAWS) present "Schoolhouse Rock (The Vote)!" - celebrating the 45th anniversary year of "Schoolhouse Rock!," the iconic, animated educational television series on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 9:30 p.m.

Portland Center Stage at The Armory's 2018-2019 season launches with the Tony Award-winning musical The Color Purple, adapted from Alice Walker's classic novel about the sisterhood, resilience and self-empowerment found in a community of black women living in rural Georgia in the early 20th century. The Color Purple begins preview performances on September 15, opens on September 21, and runs through October 28 on the U.S. Bank Main Stage. Timothy Douglas directs the production, joined by music director Darius Smith, who will bring the Grammy Award-winning score to life.

The Civilians, the celebrated Off-Broadway theatre company, will host a benefit concert at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St.) on Monday, June 4th, 2018 at 7pm. This one-night-only event will celebrate the life and legacy of founding Associate Artist, the late composer and lyricist Michael Friedman, and will raise funds for the newly created Michael Friedman Legacy Fund.

Singers and musicians from the Black Broadway community will sing inspirational cover songs from their upcoming album: Darkness RISING. The concert benefits BLK HLTH, an organization which focuses on the wellness of the Black community. The concert will be held at The Triad NYC on Monday, April 2nd at 7pm. Due to popular demand, the 60's sci-fi immersive musical comedy Wild Women of Planet Wongo will extend its run for a third time, at the Lower East Side's Parkside Lounge through June 2017.

The producers of Wild Women of Planet Wongo will provide a rare opportunity to see parts of this zany immersive show in real time via Facebook Live from inside the Lower East Side's Parkside Lounge (317 East Houston) tonight, February 3 at 8pm.
