Jenny Owen Youngs Releases 'Knife Went In'; Second Single From Forthcoming Album 'Avalanche'

Jenny Owen Youngs releases her second single “Knife Went In” from her forthcoming highly-anticipated fourth studio album Avalanche. “Knife Went In” is an exploration of vulnerability in early stages of relationships and finding common ground in shared wounds, with Youngs’ gentle voice gliding smoothly over looping nylon-stringed guitar.

Brooklyn's Steve Salett (King of France, Poison Tree) Releases Debut LP

There’s the music he made in a shared studio spot with Josh Kaufman (Bonnie Light Horsemen, Bob Weir), like “Skipper on the Reef” and “J’Amore” – songs that have a lighter warmth and immediacy about them. Pianos glow gently around the cinematic 'Skipper on the Reef' as a wayward Salett struggles to figure out where his life is headed.

Jenny Owen Youngs to Release New Album 'Avalanche'

Alongside the album announcement,  Youngs has released the title track “Avalanche” with a stunning visualizer she curated of found archival footage of, fittingly, avalanches. The Festival will feature more than 30 acts – including some of the best bands in the business, headlined by Spyro Gyra and featuring nationally celebrated talents such as Evelyn Champagne King, Dave Bennett Quartet, Freddie Fox and Tim Cunningham.

There are also tracks that he wrote with his good friend Thomas Bartlett (St. Vincent, Florence & the Machine, Yoko Ono), like “I For One” and “Spun the Wheel,” a cinematic narrative that finds Salett singing from the perspective of an older man who had his chance, and is now at the end of his life and looking back over it.

Inaugural Carmel Jazz Festival Set For This August

The inaugural Carmel Jazz Fest is scheduled for August 11 and 12, 2023, in Carmel, IN. The two-day festival will feature 30+ international, national and regional jazz, R&B and blues acts across eight stages throughout Carmel, including The Palladium, The Tarkington, Carmel Gazebo, Carter Green, The Studio Theatre, Midtown Plaza, Feinstein's at Hotel Carmichael, Jazz on the Monon and pop-up performances.  The event includes an upscale art market, beer, wine and food vendors.

Craig Finn Approaches Kickoff of Fall 2022 U.S. Tour

Fresh off a sold-out UK tour, Craig Finn and the Uptown Controllers are jumping right back into a fall tour of North America. Kicking off on October 11 at Boston's Crystal Ballroom followed by a performance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on the 12th, the dates will take the band through November 9, ending at Portland, OR's Old Church.

Craig Finn Announces New Live Shows

Craig Finn has announced a run of live shows beginning June 28 at the Turf Club in St. Paul, MN. Finn and his band, The Uptown Controllers then travel down to Evanston, IL, and make a stop at Milwaukee, WI's SummerFest before heading to the Raccoon Hotel in Davenport, IA on July 1. The complete dates are below. More shows will be announced soon.

Watchhouse Performs in the Capitol Theater Next Week

Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz, the duo known as Watchhouse (formerly known as Mandolin Orange), will perform in Capitol Theater on Friday, April 8 at 8 p.m. Marlin and Frantz are on tour supporting their debut as Watchhouse, which hit #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart in its first week.
