Milwaukee Repertory Theater announced the cast and creative team for the World Premiere of Prelude to a Kiss a musical featuring book by celebrated playwright Craig Lucas (The Light in the Piazza), music by Daniel Messé (Amélie) and lyrics by Sean Hartley (Little Women) and Daniel Messé.

Two Milwaukee theater productions in July will offer pointed responses to the presence of the Republican National Convention in the city. One show has roots in pre-World War II America, while the other is ripped from recent headlines.

Based on Craig Lucas' 1988 play and 1992 film adaptation of the same name, PRELUDE TO A KISS - THE MUSICAL is an admirable first attempt of a new musical that is, clearly, still a work-in-progress. In its current state, this genuinely charming but disjointed musical could use a sharp refocus and some more magical and narrative clarity.

Experience the world premiere of PRELUDE TO A KISS, THE MUSICAL at South Coast Repertory. This modern fable, with lyrics by Sean Hartley and Daniel Messé, explores love's peaks and valleys.

Love and laughter are just what a Wisconsin winter needs, and just what the Milwaukee Rep is serving. They have something insanely special with this updated adaptation of a Shakespearean rom-com classic. For me, this is a Rep season favorite that will be tough to top.

The festival invites actors who perform in a variety of styles, bringing a range of perspectives, and myriad ways of illuminating the human condition.

This is farcical theater to the extreme, aimed at testing your reflex for laughter. What a fun and funny way to kick off the 2019a?"2020 theater season here in Milwaukee. I'd say this 'Farce' is anything but unnecessary.
