Austin Playhouse is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season by revisiting two of their favorite characters, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson.

Sherlock Holmes is dead-he died in a struggle with his nemesis, Professor Moriarty, as both went over the edge of the cliff at Reichenbach Falls.  Or did he? The plot is definitely about to thicken, as Stage West presents the regional premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher's Holmes and Watson, in a 5-week regional premiere run at Stage West beginning Thursday, May 30.

Sherlock Holmes fans! Boston University writers created a new TV series based on Stephen King's 'The Doctor's Case' short story. 'Holmes Legacy: The Doctor's Cases' is a six-episode drama about an older Dr. John Watson, who uses his memories of Sherlock Holmes to foil a new Moriarty and protect present-day London. Experience the live staged reading by professional actors at WBUR's CitySpace from 12-3 p.m. on April 27-28, 2019.

Underscore Theatre Company is pleased to present its 5th annual CHICAGO MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL, created to showcase and support the growing field of musical theatre creators from Chicago and beyond. This year's Festival features full productions of nine new musicals plus two free readings. The Festival will be performed simultaneously on two stages at The Edge Theater: the Broadway (5451 N. Broadway) and the new Off Broadway (1133 W. Catalpa Ave.) in Chicago Edgewater neighborhood. Each full production will receive at least five performances during the Festival. New dates have been announced for Blackeyed Theatre's thrilling new adaptation of The Sign of Four, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's epic second Sherlock Holmes novel. Having successfully mystified audiences this autumn, this spectacular world premiere, adapted and directed by Nick Lane, will continue to tour to theatres across the UK throughout spring 2019, culminating in a four-week tour of China in July. 

There is much fun afoot in this cleverly written, earnestly acted, and crisply directed play being revived on the main stage at the Huntington Theatre Company. SHERLOCK'S LAST CASE had its world premiere in 1984 in Los Angeles before transferring to Broadway for a short run in 1987 with Frank Langella in the lead role. Huntington stalwart Maria Aitken returns to direct a tightly-synched cast with Rufus Collins (Holmes) and Mark Zeisler (Watson) as the long-time companions taking on a new nemesis. Has Holmes met his match, or will he live to sleuth again?

In the Huntington Theatre Company's revival of Charles Marowitz's mystery play Sherlock's Last Case, alliances are tested, rivalries are raised from the dead, and long-simmering grudges play out in deadly ways. The beloved Sherlock Holmes, his aide de camp Dr. John Watson, and their put-upon landlady Mrs. Hudson - along with the iconic Baker Street flat - come to the Huntington Avenue Theatre Sep. 28 - Oct. 28, 2018, in a production directed by Maria Aitken.
