Casting has been announced for Chick Flick the Musical (chickflickthemusical.com), a new musical comedy with book, music and lyrics by Suzy Conn (Suffra-Jets; The Mercer Girls), music direction by Matt Castle (Found: A New Musical; Once Upon A Mattress),choreography by Sarah O'Gleby (Mythic - London; Associate Choreographer - Disney'sFrozen; Kennedy Center Honors), and directed by David Ruttura (Associate Director -Network, School of Rock).

According to The Daily Beast, Gillian Anderson will appear in the fourth season of Netflix's The Crown. The X-Files star will portray British prime Margaret Thatcher.

Earlier this month, six time Tony nominee Danny Burstein and Christian Dante White  assumed the role of Alfred P. Doolittle and Freddy Eynsford-Hill in Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady, directed by Bartlett Sher, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). 'Trial and Error' has been cancelled after two seasons on NBC, according to Variety.

Producers Anita Greenspan and Tony Hawk with Executive producer Adam Zotovich announced today that a new musical adaptation of the 2007 Nick Hornby novel, SLAM, is in development. This new project will feature a book by Tony Award Nominee Kyle Jarrow (SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical) with music and lyrics by Mark Mothersbaugh (prolific film composer, co-founder of new wave band Devo). Pro-skater Tony Hawk, who is featured as a character in the novel, is a producer on the project and is slated to develop skate choreography.

Drury Lane Theatre announces casting for its production of the international megahit Mamma Mia!, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bj rn Ulvaeus, some songs with Stig Anderson, and book by Catherine Johnson. Originally conceived by Judy Craymer, Mamma Mia! is directed by Artistic Director William Osetek and choreographed by Jane Lanier with music direction by Roberta Duchak. Mamma Mia! runs February 7 April 14, 2019, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The press opening is scheduled for Thursday, February 21 at 8:00 p.m.

Performances of Chick Flick the Musical begin February 21 with opening night set for March 7.

Menzel will perform a unique concert created exclusively for the special occasion.

Rob Delaney has been cast in Jay Roach's untitled Fox News movie, according to Deadline.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

Last night, Renee Taylor won the annual The United Solo Special Award, which recognizes artists who have made significant recent contributions to solo theatre during the year, for her critically acclaimed autobiographical comedy MY LIFE ON A DIET. Along with Ms. Taylor, this year's nominees included Derek DelGaudio (In & Of Itself), Alison S. M. Kobayashi (Say Something Bunny!), John Lithgow (Stories By Heart), Chita Rivera (An Evening with Chita Rivera) and Bruce Springsteen (Springsteen on Broadway).

Connie Britton has been cast to play Beth Ailes, the wife of late Fox News chief Roger Ailes, in the upcoming Fox News drama film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
