Producer Cedric Yau & the YOW! Theater Company have announced several changes for Around the World in 80 Days, now running Off-Broadway at The New Theater at 45th Street. Around the World in 80 Days, a play by Mark Brown based on the novel by Jules Verne, is an open-ended production, with tickets now available through Jan. 5, 2014.

Josh Segarra to Replace Bryce Ryness in Off-Broadway's AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS

Producer Cedric Yau has announced that Josh Segarra will step into the role of Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days, the hit show now running Off-Broadway. He will replace Bryce Ryness, who is set to star in the musical First Date, on Broadway. Segarra will head the cast as thephlegmatic Phileas Fogg, the quintessential Brit who takes a bet to travel the globe in 80 days. Shirine Babb, Jimmy Ray Bennett, John Gregorio & Stephen Guarino round out this ensemble cast.

La Jolla Playhouse presents a new adaptation of Sleeping Beauty Wakes, book by Tony Award-winning librettist Rachel Sheinkin (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), with a score by composer Brendan Milburn and lyricist Valerie Vigoda, both of the acclaimed trio GrooveLily (Striking 12, Long Story Short), and directed by Rebecca Taichman, who will also direct The Playhouse's 2011/12 world premiere of Milk Like Sugar. A co-production with Princeton's McCarter Theatre Center, Sleeping Beauty Wakes runs July 19 - August 21 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre. SHINE! The Horatio Alger Musical with a Book by Richard Seff; Music by Roger Dean Anderson and Lyrics by Lee Goldsmith continues with numerous activities. Thomas Z Shepard, the renowned cast recording producer, saw the acclaimed musical and was extremely impressed. This week he produced a 5 song demo recording with full orchestra and cast members featuring Andy Mientus. Next week the musical has been invited to Florida for the Mainstreet Musicals Festival for presentations with Hal Linden. This Sunday the show will be presented with 2010 NYMY Awards For Excellence: EXCELLENCE IN OVERALL DESIGN - Shine! Michael Bottari & Ron Case; OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE - Andy Mientus, and Honorable Mention: Peter Flynn, For Direction. The production was a Critics Pick from BackStage.
