Odyssey Theatre Ensemble welcomes back Olivier Award-winning Irish trio Fishamble: The New Play Company, writer/performer Pat Kinevane and director Jim Culleton, with the West Coast premiere of “King” for a limited, three-week engagement beginning tonight and running through May 5. Check out the photos, below.

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble will welcome back Olivier Award-winning Irish trio Fishamble: The New Play Company, writer/performer Pat Kinevane, and director Jim Culleton with the West Coast premiere of King.

59E59 Theaters has revealed additional productions for the 2024 winter season.

It has just been announced that Fishamble: The New Play Company has been awarded a Scotsman's Fringe First Award for Heaven by Eugene O'Brien starring Andrew Bennett and Janet Moran and directed by Jim Culleton. 

Jim Culleton directs Andrew Bennett and Janet Moran as they take turns to open up in conversational confessional style. They do so in a liminal space designed by Zia Bergin-Holly. The set is suspended between interior and exterior: the outside wall of a building, with its stripped posters and lonely lamppost is at odds with the comfy armchair and barstools that stand in front of it. While Mairead and Mal meet old and new flames, O’Brien takes the opportunity to explore the fallout of repressed homosexuality and the rampant toxic relationship with alcohol.

TravFest 2203 will feature the world premiere of Traverse Theatre Company production The Grand Old Opera House Hotel by Isobel McArthur, with Dundee Rep Theatre.

Actor, producer and director Martin Jarvis OBE (Just William, The Forsyte Saga, Eastenders, Doctor Who) has won the BBC Audio Drama award for Lifetime Achievement, presented at Broadcasting House’s Radio Theatre.

Irish Repertory Theatre and Fishamble: The New Play Company announced additional casting for the west coast dates for the inaugural readings of their first collaboration, the 2022-23 Transatlantic Commissions Program.

The finalists in the 2023 BBC Audio Drama Awards have today been announced, with a wealth of talent such as Toby Jones, Danielle Vitalis and Ken Cheng all in the running for the top spots.

Fishamble: The New Play Company is currently presenting Heaven at 59E59 Theaters, and this two hander is wowing audiences. 

 59E59 Theaters has announced the casts and creative teams for Heaven and Frankenstein’s Monster is Drunk and the Sheep have all Jumped the Fences.  

59E59 Theaters has announced additional productions for their Winter 2023 Season. The 59E59 Winter 2023 Season will begin with the previously announced productions of The Immortal Jellyfish Girl, presented by Wakka Wakka; followed by two productions as part of Origin’s 1st Irish.

The Origin 1st Irish Theatre Festival, the only festival of its kind devoted to producing and presenting the theatrical work of contemporary Irish playwrights from around the world, returns to a mostly in-person format in its upcoming 15th annual edition.  

The New Play Company will collaborate with acclaimed playwright Eugene O'Brien to present his first new play in two decades, it comes to The Everyman, Cork, 25th – 26th October as part of a nationwide tour.

59E59 Theaters has announced their Fall 2022 Season, and the first three productions for their Winter 2023 Season. The Fall 2022 Season will begin with Boswell, presented by MHK Productions. The 59E59 Winter 2023 Season will begin with The Immortal Jellyfish Girl, presented by Wakka Wakka.

Solas Nua's In the Middle of the Fields by Deirdre Kinahan, will make its on-screen debut in New York City's 1st Irish Theatre Festival. The play was originally staged outdoors this past summer at P St Beach, receiving critical acclaim. The film is directed by Laley Lippard, who also directed the theatre production earlier this year, with Emmy Award winner Doug Wilder as director of photography. 

The panel is made up of Fishamble's Artistic Director, Jim Culleton, Dublin Dance Festival's incoming Artistic Director, Jazmin Chiodi and playwright, Rosaleen MacDonagh as well as Tipperary Dance Platform's Alexandre Iseli and the co-founder and Artistic Director of Rather Gather inclusive arts collective, Romi.

DC is a city steeped in national myth, so perhaps it is most fitting that now, in the midst of our own battle for self-determination and statehood, Solas Nua brings us Fishamble’s production of 'Inside the GPO', an intimate look at Ireland’s 1916 Easter Rising...but as with every myth, one must peel back the layers to really get to the good stuff
