The Marriott Theatre's HERO, Starring Erich Bergen, Begins Previews Tonight, 6/20

The Marriott Theatre (10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire) presents HERO, a new musical written by Aaron Thielen with music and lyrics by Michael Mahler, previewing tonight, June 20, opening June 27 at 8 p.m. and running through August 19, 2012. Eleven-time Jeff award-winner David H. Bell directs and choreographs. Erich Bergen (JERSEY BOYS, Nat'l Tour) stars as Hero Batowski.

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS Comes to Charlotte, 6/29 & 30

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS will be return to Charlotte due to popular demand for three performances only at The Knight Theater, Levine Center for the Arts, 430 South Tryon Street, on Friday, June 29 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 30 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Victory Gardens Presents OEDIPUS EL REY, 6/29-7/29

Victory Gardens concludes its 2011-12 season with Oedipus el Rey, written by Luis Alfaro and directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. The production runs June 29 - July 29, 2012 at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park. The Press Opening is Monday, July 9, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.

Writers’ Theatre Extends A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC Through 8/12

Writers' Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, announces the second and final extension of its acclaimed musical A Little Night Music, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Hugh Wheeler, directed by William Brown. The production, originally scheduled to run May 1 through July 8, 2012, will now run through August 12, 2012 at Writers' Theatre, 325 Tudor Court in Glencoe.

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS Returns to Atlanta Theatre, Now thru 6/17

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, the provocative theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon's point of view, returns to Atlanta by popular demand for a limited engagement at the ALLIANCE THEATRE, Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree Street NE. Performances are tonight, June 7 through 10 and June 14 through 17, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Goodman Theatre and Teatro Vista's Premiere FISH MEN Closes Tonight, 5/6

Goodman Theatre and Teatro Vista team up for their second world-premiere production with Fish Men, Puerto Rican playwright Candido Tirado's new comedic drama about a group of urban chess hustlers drawn together by a shared need to overcome their individual demons. Edward Torres, Artistic Director of Teatro Vista, makes his Goodman directorial debut with this second play of a three-year producing partnership between the Goodman and Teatro Vista, Chicago's first and largest not-for-profit professional Latino theater company. Fish Men runs through tonight, May 6, 2012, in the Goodman's Owen Theatre.

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, the provocative and wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon's point of view, will return to Irvine by popular demand for a limited engagement at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, adjacent to University of California Irvine, from July 12 through July 15. The production sold out five performances at the same venue in July 2011.

The Paramount Theater is presenting the nostalgic jukebox revue Route 66 for a nine-week run, four shows a week, in the intimate, 216-seat Copley Theater. Tickets are on sale now for Paramount's production of Roger Bean's Route 66, a jukebox comedy about a gang of rowdy Chicago service station attendants who take an imaginary Chicago to L.A. road trip singing tunes by Willie Nelson, Woody Guthrie, Roger Miller and The Beach Boys, just to name a few.
