Our Song, Our Story is an evening of music highlighting some of the world's most well-known operatic arias, art songs, and spirituals. The concert brought together two of today's most exciting operatic voices in a diverse and powerful event featuring Janinah Burnett and Justin Austin, accompanied by Damien Sneed on piano and the Griot String Quartet; Dr. Amyr Joyner on violin, Justus Ross on violin, Edward W. Created and directed by composer, conductor, and multi-genre musician Damien Sneed, Our Song, Our Story - the New Generation of Black Voices is an evening of music highlighting some of the world's most well-known operatic arias, art songs and spirituals.

Courtney Bryan Named Composer In Residence At Opera Philadelphia

For more than a decade, Opera Philadelphia's Composer in Residence program has provided composers with opportunities for exploration and creative development in the field of opera. The first comprehensive operatic program of its kind in the country, it provides composers with highly individualized creative development such as connecting with experts, detailed work with singers, and working with the company to further their study of creation and exploration in opera.

Having been on pause since the pandemic, Liz Player (Founding Executive and Artistic Director, Harlem Chamber Players) is pleased to announce the rare NYC performance of Harlem Renaissance composer Nathaniel Dett's (1882-1943) masterpiece oratorio The Ordering of Moses.

Having been on pause since the pandemic, Liz Player (Founding Executive and Artistic Director, Harlem Chamber Players) is pleased to announce the rare NYC performance of the Harlem Renaissance composer Nathaniel Dett's (1882-1943) masterpiece oratorio The Ordering of Moses, which was cut short during a radio broadcast in 1937.

Jones also sat down with casting associate Joseph Hayes to discuss the importance of diversity and representation on Broadway.

Photos: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Celebrates 34 Years on Broadway

Just last night, The Phantom of the Opera celebrated its 34th anniversary! Emilie Kouatchou took over the role of Christine Daae beginning at last night's performance. She is the first Black actor to play the role on Broadway. Following the performance, the current Phantom, Ben Crawford, gave a speech honoring the show.

Emilie Kouatchou Will Take Over as Christine in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA 

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh announced today that Emilie Koutachou will take over the principal role of ‘Christine Daaé’ in the New York production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on the night that the musical celebrates its unprecedented 34th Anniversary on Wednesday evening, January 26 at 7PM.
