VIVIAN REED, the two-time Tony Award-nominated Broadway star and concert artist called 'remarkable and ferocious' by The New York Times, returned to New York on Saturday April 2 at 9:30 PM, with the opening night of her new show 'Standards and More' at The Metropolitan Room. VIVIAN REED, the two-time Tony Award-nominated Broadway star and concert artist called "remarkable and ferocious" by The New York Times, will return to New York on Saturday April 2 at 9:30 PM, with the opening night of her new show "Standards and More" at The Metropolitan Room. Her special guests for this performance will be Metropolitan Opera soprano Janinah Burnett and Broadway star Raun Ruffin, who appeared in The Civil War. Reed will also appear at The Metropolitan Room on May 23, June 17 and July 21, backed by a four-piece band led by Billy McDaniel. The evening will include unique arrangements of classic standards by Duke Ellington, Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter and George Gershwin in a dazzling blend of pop, jazz, soul and R&B.

Metropolitan Opera singer Janinah Burnett and Joanna Marie Ford and Steven Wallace will perform the leading roles in Morningside Opera, Harlem Opera Theater and The Harlem Chamber Players concert production of VOODOO, the long-lost and historical opera by African American composer Harry Lawrence Freeman. They will be joined by Crystal Charles, James R. Hopkins III, Barry L. Robinson, Darian Worrall, a full chorus and 30-piece orchestra.  The production is directed by Melissa Crespo and conducted by Gregory Hopkins.   Last performed in NYC in 1928, VOODOO, will play two concert performances only on June 26 and 27, 2015 at 7PM at Miller Theatre at Columbia University (2960 Broadway, at the corner of Broadway and 116th street) in Manhattan. Terrance McKnight of WQXR Radio is the evening's host. Tickets are $25 advance/$30 at the door, with discount tickets available for students and seniors at $20. Gregg Baker and Laquita Mitchell will star in the show which will be directed by Jonathan Eaton with the 55-piece orchestra being conducted by Jason C. Tramm.

Curtain for both performances is 8:00 p.m. Tickets range from $17 in the Student Section to $80 in Premiere/Orchestra section, with a limited number of 'pay-what-you-can' tickets available directly from the Nashville Opera office. A free discussion of the work takes place one hour prior to curtain in the theatre.
