Thoughts of a Colored Man officially opens on Broadway on October 13, at the John Golden Theatre. Meet the cast and learn more about who is starring in the play!

The series continues to follow our favorite characters as they evaluate their relationships, both new and old, in an effort to figure out who and what comes with them in this next phase of their lives.

A reunion special will launch on September 9.

The Den Theatre presents Nick Kroll: Middle-Aged Boy Tour. Kroll, creator and star of the hit Netflix series Big Mouth, will perform four stand-up shows September 27 – 28, 2021 on The Den's Heath Mainstage, 1331 N. Now, plans are underway to expand beyond companion podcasts to include scripted audio originals like the highly anticipated “Batman: The Audio Adventures,” starring Jeffrey Wright; brand podcasts like “HBO Max Movie Club,” look-back pods that pull from the streamer’s vast library of content, both acquired and licensed titles, and more.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced that they will present the 2020 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre to four outstanding contributors to the Broadway industry - Fred Gallo, President of PRG Scenic Technologies; Broadway press agent Irene Gandy; stage manager Beverly Jenkins and New Federal Theatre, Woodie King, Jr. Founder.

This morning, Hamilton star Jasmine Cephas Jones and Ron Cephas Jones announced the 2021 Primetime Emmy Nominations, which included 12 nominations for the Disney Plus recording of Hamilton in addition to nomination for Broadway veterans like Billy Porter, Cynthia Erivo, Julie Andrews, the Lopezes and so many more.

There are 89 Oscar nominees, including 25 winners, among the invitees.

With his live return slated for this summer’s Lollapalooza, Cautious Clay will embark on the Karma & Friends Tour of North America and Europe in 2022 with dates in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Barcelona and more.

Returning as producers are Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Christina Steinberg. Alonzo Ruvalcaba is co-producing. Lord and Miller will also be credited as writers on the film, along with David Callaham. Peter Ramsey is also returning as an executive producer, alongside Aditya Sood.

This year’s nominees reflect an abundance of creative expression and Black excellence across music, television, film, and sports. 

Season 2 of A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW once again featured a core cast of Black women living relatable, hilarious experiences in a magical reality that subverts traditional expectations.

PROJECT GREENLIGHT is a docuseries focusing on the next generation of talented female filmmakers who are given the chance to direct a feature film. Issa Rae will appear in every episode as an Executive Producer, providing guidance and mentorship to these aspiring filmmakers. The finished film will then premiere on HBO Max.

Her 2020 EP Before I Spill Myself was met with critical acclaim from the likes of Complex, OkayPlayer, NPR and more, with Grimy Goods noting that “at the heart of TeaMarrr’s music, there’s a deep desire and urgency for healing that flows from her blending of pop, hip-hop, and R&B.”

Center Theatre Group’s Dorothy and Richard Sherwood Award will go to two artists – D’Lo and Mikaal Sulaiman. Center Theatre Group recognizes and celebrates this year’s finalists for their exceptional contributions to the Los Angeles theatre landscape and their work as innovative and adventurous artists.

Though we’re moving through the year with ever more hope, the realities of Covid-19 are still not totally behind us. As the live performing arts world is slowly revived from a forced hibernation, artists who continue to adapt and create continue to need our support.

Following the week-long virtual experience, tonight the NAACP celebrated the stellar achievements of the 52nd NAACP Image Awards winners during a special LIVE broadcast on BET and simulcast across ViacomCBS networks including CBS for its first time, as well as BET Her, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Paramount, Pop, Smithsonian, TV Land, VH1, BET PLUTO, and CMT.

The deal is exclusive to WarnerMedia for all forms of television, to include HBO, HBO Max and Warner Bros. Television, and a first-look for features with Warner Bros. Pictures Group, New Line and HBO Max. Projects will be developed with Rae's media company, HOORAE.
