Review: OR, at Constellation Theatre Company

Writers have a somewhat embarrassing tendency to glorify the act of writing. There are too many author protagonists to count. Liz Duffy Adams leans into this trend with a tasteful sense of irony in her 2009 play, OR. She picked an interesting subject for the task with Aphra Behn.

Rob McClure, National Tours of KIMBERLY AKIMBO and SOME LIKE IT HOT Among 2026 Helen Hayes Award Nominees

The 2026 Helen Hayes Award nominations have been announced, recognizing outstanding achievement in Washington-area professional theatre. Review: APROPOS OF NOTHING at Keegan Theatre

Inappropriate crushes are best left to oneself, especially when it involves a married person — a lesson never learned by Owen (Ryan Sellers), the lead character in Greg Kalleres’ comedy “Apropos of Nothing” making its DC premiere at the Keegan Theatre.

Review: DORY FANTASMAGORY at Imagination Stage

If you have a kid in elementary school, the wildly popular Dory Fantasmagory book series is likely on your radar. What you may not be aware of is there is a stage show based on the books. Recently, my son and I caught Dory Fantasmagory making its East Coast premiere. It was silly, funny, and, maybe most importantly, my five-year-old sat through the entire show and never once asked to even so much as go to the bathroom. Win!

Review: CHARLOTTE'S WEB at Adventure Theatre

Adventure Theatre's production of the E.B. White classic is full of heart, humor, and hard lessons. E.B. White's Charlotte's Web has remained a staple of children's literature since its publication in the '50s, illuminating themes of grief, friendship, and altruism. It has been adapted countless times for film, television, and, of course, the stage, an iteration of which is now playing at Adventure Theatre in Glen Echo.

CHARLOTTE'S WEB Comes to Adventure Theatre MTC in April

Adventure Theatre MTC will present Charlotte's Web, directed by Clancey Yovanovich. Based on the classic book by E.B. White, this tale of friendship, kindness, and ultimately the cycle of life is recommended for ages 4 and up.

Review: DOWNSTATE at Studio Theatre

Even after serving jail time, they get something of a life sentence with ankle bracelets monitoring every move, large swaths of the city cut off from them because of proximity to elementary schools, forced to live with no WiFi among people they probably wouldn’t have chosen and forever carry the scorn of passerby.

Review: THE TRAGEDIE OF MACBETH at Taffety Punk

It figures that a Riot Grrrls version of “The Tragedie of Macbeth” at Taffety Punk would focus on the witches - or three wyrd sisters, as they’re called here

Fresh from their Helen Hayes Awards win for Outstanding Production (La Salpêtrière) the Taffety Punks bring back the Riot Grrrls to show us how Shakespeare is done. See photos from The Tragedie of Macbeth.
