Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presents the U.S. premiere of Yaacobi & Leidental, a funny, provocative romp with music written by Israeli playwright Hanoch Levin featuring songs by Alex Kagan, opened over the weekend in Los Angeles. Tel Aviv-based director Yonatan Esterkin helms a new translation by Naaman Tamuz that was recently commissioned by the Levin estate, and Nisha Sujatha Arunasalam is music director.

Ilia Volok returns to New York with his critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning one-man show, DIARY OF A MADMAN.

The film features Jerry (Noel Mirabal) and Jimmy (Andrew Burton) as two unskilled detectives in Los Angeles who fall under the influence of a mysterious cult leader while on a mission to nowhere. A dynamic love story between the fearless Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci and the Greek freedom-fighter Alexander Panagoulis is dramatized in the new play, SHOW ME A HERO, scheduled to run February 23 - March 29, 2020 at Write Act Rep' Brickhouse Theatre in North Hollywood. Written by Willard Manus, the production will be helmed by Daniel E. Keough.

Write Act Repertory's Producing Artistic Director John Lant and Anne Mesa are pleased to announce a Special Limited Engagement of the world premiere of Willard Manus' THEIR FINEST HOUR: CHURCHILL AND MURROW.  July 27 - August 5, 2018. The final production in the series, Three By Will In Rep, is directed by Stu Berg. The show returns for two weekends at Write Act Repertory @ The Brickhouse Theatre. This full-length play sheds light on the unique relationship between Winston Churchill and Edward R. Murrow during the early years of WW II when England was under attack by Hitler's Air Force. Murrow, who was covering the war for CBS Radio News, not only became friendly with Churchill, but had a passionate and adulterous love affair with the Prime Ministers daughter-in-law.

Ilia Volok's critically acclaimed one-man show, DIARY OF A MADMAN, was just nominated for a New York Innovative Theater Award in the best solo performance category. When I saw the show last fall, I noticed it drew a particularly eclectic audience--people of all ages, from all walks of life. That popular demand that led to an extended run came as no surprise to me because Gogol's classic, poignantly brought to life, deals with loneliness and the human propensity for dreams and delusions. Volok's bittersweet portrayal of Poprishchin made the character an Everyman instead of a farce. I knew show had universal appeal, but I wouldn't have guessed its next stop would be Dubai.
