On Sunday, March 26, 2023, Encompass New Opera Theatre (Nancy Rhodes, Artistic Director), The Board of Trustees and The Encompass Honorary Gala Chair, Sheldon Harnick will pay tribute to Tony Award Winning Songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and Legendary Cabaret and Concert Artist -- Marilyn Maye with a star- studded musical salute.

To spotlight women in leadership, the Broadway Women’s Fund has announced the fourth annual Women to Watch on Broadway.

Cabaret legend and Grammy nominee Marilyn Maye will appear with The New York Pops, led by Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, to celebrate a very special birthday on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. 

JEAN LOUISA KELLY – the stage and screen star from the original Broadway cast of Into the Woods, and the movies Uncle Buck, Mr. Holland's Opus, The Fantasticks, and Top Gun: Maverick – will return to The Laurie Beechman Theatre with “Anything Can Happen!” for two additional shows after her sold-out New York concert debut earlier this year. The encore performances will take place Friday, March 31 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, April 1 at 9:30 PM.

BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present an exclusive six-show engagement from Rickie Lee Jones to preview her upcoming album Pieces of Treasure from Thursday, April 6 to Saturday, April 8 with shows at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM.

BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present the return of Julie Benko – direct from Broadway’s smash hit revival of Funny Girl – with her band “Euphonic Gumbo” on Monday, February 6 at 7:00 PM.

Jazz at Princeton University, helmed by acclaimed saxophonist/composer Rudresh Mahanthappa, and the McCarter Theatre kick off a new partnership on Saturday, February 11 with “For the Love of It,” a concert celebrating life, love, and culture through diverse musical styles and composers.

BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present the return of the Our Sinatra – the acclaimed musical revue celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra – on Monday, December 26 for three shows at 5:30 PM, 8:00 PM, and 10:00 PM.

I will proudly admit it. I don't like Christmas shows. I once videotaped HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS and purposely stopped taping right about the time the Grinch was about to dump the presents off the edge of Mount Crumpet. I empathize with Miles Finch and Mr. Potter more than I do with Buddy the Elf and George Bailey.

BIRDLAND THEATER will present the return of “Scunge! A Mobbed-Up Christmas Carol” – written by and starring Broadway’s Dominic Scaglione, Jr., Andy Karl, Dominic Nolfi, and Matt Bogart – from Friday, December 16 through Sunday, December 18.

BIRDLAND THEATER will present the return of living legend Marilyn Maye for a special seven-show holiday engagement from Thursday, December 29 through Sunday, January 1, including the “New Year’s Eve Extravaganza!” on Saturday, December 31.

Then on Monday, Dec. 19, “Live” brings the holidays to life with the “Live with Kelly and Ryan: Home for the Holidays” special episode. Award-winning musicians DAVID FOSTER AND KATHARINE MCPHEE will perform “Jingle Bell Rock,” and the internationally beloved RADIO CITY ROCKETTES will dance their way onto the “Live” stage.

On his fourth album of Christmas material, Connick offers his interpretations of classics such as “Jingle Bells” and “Go Tell It On the Mountain”, while penning one new original (“Make It Merry”) and re-recording three songs from his 1993 LP When My Heart Finds Christmas. Birdland Jazz Club has released jazz programming at Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater running November 21 through December 4. Artists appearing at Birdland Jazz Club include the Ken Peplowski Quartet, City Rhythm Orchestra, Paloma, Kurt Elling and Danilo Perez, Paloma and Frank Perowsky Orchestra.
