Mayo Performing Arts Center has announced a series of free summer Arts in the Community concerts and events at various locations in Morristown.

This year's concerts will span a variety of musical styles, feature returning favorites such as the jazz duo Acute Inflections as well as local artist Munah Hayes and introduce new and diverse artists to the community. Additional events may be added throughout the summer.

New season subscriptions for the 2021 five-show season are still currently available through July 23, with single tickets becoming available July 12. Learn more about the production and how to purchase tickets here!

Eight different acts - some new, some returning - will be performing throughout the festival. Performances take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Ah, yes. The jukebox musical. When most “theatre people” hear that term, the following reaction is normally one of some scorn or even disgust. It’s too often that jukebox musicals aren’t thought of as “real” theatre or “quality” theatre because the music isn’t original, and in some cases, the story is meant to fit the music as opposed to vice versa. However, after over a year without live theatre, it has become highly obvious that all works of theatre are worth equal appreciation, regardless of story, music, or any aspect. So as live theatre makes its return in a newer world, with more opportunities for new works, let’s not forget the jukebox musical.

After what will be a 23-month intermission, The Muny's 103rd season will open with the Muny premiere of Smokey Joe's Cafe, followed by The Sound of Music, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, On Your Feet! and Chicago.

On Your Feet! star Ana Villafañe has joined the cast of the upcoming NBC pilot for their reboot of the classic legal comedy, Night Court. 

The series begins with award-winning cabaret and jazz artist Carole J. Bufford honoring songstresses Janis Joplin, Dusty Springfield, Tina Turner, Carole King, Lesley Gore, Dionne Warwick, Cher and more in her solo show YOU DON'T OWN ME: FEARLESS FEMALES OF THE '60s & '70s. July 10 at 8:00 PM.

All of these lessons and more make up the root of the story in Luis Santeiro’s The Lady from Havana. Set to the tune of these classic films and tv shows like The Golden Girls, Miami Vice, etc.... The Lady from Havana tells the story of a daughter Marita, her elderly mother Mama, and her Mama’s closest confidant Zoila in 1980’s Miami all living under the same roof.
