The “Rhythm is Gonna Get You” when On Your Feet! comes to Kansas City for six sensational nights at Starlight September 7 – 12.

Producers Barry and Fran Weissler have just announced casting for the Broadway company of CHICAGO, which resumes performances at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W 49th St, NYC) on Tuesday, September 14th. Leading the company will be Bianca Marroquín making her debut in the role of Velma Kelly, Tony Award-winner Lillias White as Matron “Mama” Morton, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Ryan Lowe as Mary Sunshine. Casting for the roles of Roxie Hart and Billy Flynn will officially be announced soon, but according to an Instagram post from casting office Stewart/Whitley, Ana Villafañe will play Roxie.

The Muny premiere of On Your Feet! is a satisfying surprise. Director Maggie Burrows and Choreographer William Carlos Angulo fill The Muny stage with an epic celebration of music and movement. This production overcomes a thin book and marginally compelling story to stage a joyful jukebox musical thanks to perfect casting and exceptional performances.

The principal cast of On Your Feet! includes Arianna Rosario (Gloria), Omar Lopez-Cepero (Emilio), Natascia Diaz (Gloria Fajardo), Alma Cuervo (Consuelo), Isabella Iannelli (Little Gloria), Jordan Vergara (Young Emilio/Nayib/Jeremy), Lee Zarrett (Phil), Marina Pires (Gloria Standby) and Dhanny Burgos (Emilio Standby).

The Muny will be presenting On Your Feet!, the fourth show of the theatre's 103rd season, Aug. 21 - 27. On Your Feet! stars Arianna Rosario (Gloria), Omar Lopez-Cepero (Emilio), Natascia Diaz (Gloria Fajardo), Alma Cuervo (Consuelo), Lee Zarrett (Phil), Isabella Iannelli (Little Gloria) and Jordan Vergara (Nayib/Young Emilio/Jeremy).

This season looks to be very exciting at the FSCJ Artist Series with Broadway productions, concerts, ballets, operas, comedy shows, dance productions, school performances and variety shows.

Birdland Theater will present a special evening with New York-based, Honduran-American violinist Marissa Licata on September 13 at 8:30 PM. In her New York solo concert debut, Licata will present “Strings on Fire” featuring her all-star band: Jerry Sabatini on trumpet, Matt Marcus on piano, John Miller on bass, Shannon Ford on drums, and special guest blues icon James Montgomery on harmonica and vocals.

Mr. Sosa, in his role as Chair of the Wing’s Board of Directors, will be joined by newly named Vice-Chairs Dale Cendali, Patricia Crown, James Higgins, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Lee Perlman, and Nadine Wong.

Recipients to be honored at the annual national celebration of the arts in Washington, D.C. are: operatic bass-baritone Justino Díaz, Motown founder, songwriter, producer, and director Berry Gordy, Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, legendary stage and screen icon Bette Midler, and singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell.

The program opened with a surprise greeting from Ringo Starr and from that point on, donations poured in by phone, online, and text…and they're still coming in. They sent out a call for love, and Los Angeles answered with donations big and small. People calling in were not only giving $5, $10, $100, they were telling stories to volunteers about the son they lost to AIDS, or their own cancer battle, or their friend who has survived because of Project Angel Food.

The Muny announced today its complete cast, design and production team for On Your Feet!, the fourth show of the theatre’s 103rd season. On Your Feet! runs Aug. 21 – 27.
