The Casting Directors' Guild has announced the winners for the 2022 CDG Casting Awards, in partnership with Spotlight.

The National Theatre today announces new productions for all three South Bank stages this summer: Jack Absolute Flies Again in the Olivier theatre, Much Ado About Nothing in the Lyttelton theatre and All of Us in the Dorfman theatre with tickets on sale to the public from Thursday 10 March.  

Rehearsals begin today for Giles Terera’s debut stage play The Meaning of Zong, co-directed by Giles Terera and Tom Morris.

Bristol Old Vic today released the new show image for Wonder Boy, written by Ross Willis and directed by Sally Cookson. The image features newcomer Raphel Famotibe who will be starring as Sonny in the production, which runs from 5 - 26 Mar at Bristol Old Vic.

BroadwayHD announced today that they will be bringing The Space: Theatre of Survival to their platform for its exclusive U.S. debut on February 17th. Narrated by iconic actor James Earl Jones and directed and produced by Dan Poole (Muse of Fire, Black Matter- with Giles Terera) and Mark Street.

Bristol Old Vic today announces a week-long extension of the world première of Dr Semmelweis, based on an original idea by Mark Rylance, and written by Stephen Brown with Rylance. The production opened on 26 January, and now runs until 19 February 2022. 

BroadwayHD is bringing a diverse roster of programming to their site this month.  Starting February 1, movie musical classics Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which was nominated for five Academy Awards® including 'Best Picture,” and Man of La Mancha starring Peter O’Toole and Sophia Loren, will join the service. 

Sky Arts will broadcast a new documentary Cameron Mackintosh - The First 50 Years on Monday 27 December 2021 at 7pm, a two-hour programme featuring Mackintosh’s life as a producer told through his own eyes and those of his friends and colleagues including his most famous writer collaborators.

Giles Terera will return to the West End production of Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre from 17 December 2021 – 30 January 2022 to play Aaron Burr, the Olivier award-winning performance he created in the original London cast as Best Actor in a Musical.

Tom Morris directs the previously announced Rylance (Ignaz Semmelweis), who is joined by Jackie Clune (Anna Müller), Sandy Grierson (Jakob Kolletschka), Felix Hayes (Ferdinand von Hebra), Enyi Okoronkwo (Franz Arneth), Clemmie Sveaas (Lisa Elstein), Thalissa Teixeira (Maria Semmelweis), Alan Williams (Johann Klein) and Daniel York Loh (Karl von Rokitanksy) with dancers Roseanna Anderson, Joshua Ben-Tovim, Megan May Cameron, Megumi Eda, Suzy Halstead and Millie Thomas.

Blue/Orange is now playing at Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio from 29 October to 13 November 2021, before dates at Oxford Playhouse from 16 November to 20 November 2021 and Royal & Derngate, Northampton from 23 November to 4 December 2021. 

Royal & Derngate today announced four further productions to complete its 2021/22 Made in Northampton season. A new production of Joe Penhall's biting contemporary satire Blue/Orange is brought to the stage this autumn by the producing team behind Ralph Fiennes' hugely successful Four Quartets which is soon to transfer to the West End.

Royal & Derngate Northampton, Theatre Royal Bath Productions, and Oxford Playhouse present the multi award-winning drama Blue/Orange, which opens at Theatre Royal Bath's Ustinov Studio from 29 October to 13 November 2021, before dates at Oxford Playhouse from 16 November to 20 November 2021 and Royal & Derngate, Northampton from 23 November to 4 December 2021.

The rest of Bristol Old Vic’s programme for Autumn/Winter remains on sale. The theatre’s promise to keep our audiences safe remains strong with the additional offer of two guaranteed socially distanced performances until Christmas remaining in place. 

To launch the project today, two singles from  the album are being released: Rachel Portman’s prologue to A Tale of Two Cities featuring Judi Dench and White Lies’ prologue to Cat on a Hot Tin Roof featuring Amanda Seyfried, both of which are available now!

The National Theatre has today announced its programming until the start of next year with productions on all three South Bank stages as well as three major UK tours, two productions on Broadway, a return to cinemas, and a new feature film to be broadcast on television this autumn. In the week the theatre reopened for audiences again, six new productions were announced, and five productions halted by the pandemic were confirmed to return to the South Bank.
