PM Theater's A STAR WITHOUT A NAME To Embark on National Tour

Following the success of its inaugural production of The Singing Windmills, with its two sold-out Off-Broadway runs and a national tour, PM Theater will present its second Off-Broadway production A Star Without A Name (Безымянная Звезда) on tour from March 28 through April 14, 2024.

THE SINGING WINDMILLS to Launch National Tour

Written by Roman Freud and directed by Gera Sandler, The Singing Windmills explores the story of the life and work of the legendary Solomon Mikhoels - a Soviet Jewish actor, artistic director of the Moscow State Jewish Theater, and the chairman of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee.

THE SINGING WINDMILLS Returns For a Limited Run in June

Sergey Nagorny and Anya Zicer, co-producers of The Singing Windmills, the world premiere production written by Roman Freud, directed by Gera Sandler, and featuring New York-based Russian, Ukrainian and Israeli actors, who have joined hands and voices during this time of horrific events unfolding in Ukraine, today announced that they will present an encore run June 1-12 at Theatre 71, 152 West 71st Street in Manhattan.

New Yiddish Rep's THE LABOR OF LIFE Will Tour To Montreal

New Yiddish Rep's Yiddish-language production of 'The Labor of Life' by the late Israeli playwright Hanoch Levin, which is playing through January 26 at the Rep's Rose and Cyrus Feldman Studio Theater, 315 W. 39 Street (9 fl.), will be presented in Montreal February 16 for two performances at La Vitrola, 4602 Boul St-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2T 1R3, Canada. The theater, which seats 150, is expected to draw from the Montreal Jewish community and Yiddish-speakers including the KlezKanada crowd and Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theater crowd. It will be a production of New Yiddish Rep in association with Art Against Humanity and Bardak Productions. Translator is Eli Rosen and director is Gera Sandler. The piece will be performed with projected English supertitles.

New Yiddish Rep Will Present THE WHORE FROM OHIO by Hanoch Levin

New Yiddish Rep will present 'The Whore from Ohio' by Hanoch Levin, Israel's foremost playwright, at Theater for the New City February 19 to 23, performed in Yiddish with projected surtitles. This black comedy, which deals memorably with ultimate questions of fantasy, lust and mortality, is one Levin's most famous plays. It is translated into Yiddish from the original Hebrew by Eli Rosen. Gara Sandler directs.

New Yiddish Rep Presents THE LABOR OF LIFE By Hanoch Levin

From January 17 to 26, 2020, New Yiddish Rep will present a Yiddish language version of 'The Labor of Life' by Israeli playwright Hanoch Levin, translated by Eli Rosen, directed by Gera Sandler, at New Yiddish Rep's Cyrus and Rose Feldman Studio Theater, 315 W. 39 Street, 9th floor. This comedy, originally written in Hebrew, will be performed in Yiddish with projected English surtitles. It is a funny and very sad play of the missed opportunities, compromises and disillusionments demanded by the 'labor of life.' Originally presented at Israel's HaBima in June, 1989, it stands out among contemporary writings for its sardonic resonance to Israelis and Jews worldwide.

For April, New Yiddish Rep has scheduled two events, a new 'Kabaret!' event and a Freedom Seder, to be presented in its studio space, The Cyrus and Rose Feldman Studio Theater, located at 315 W. 39 Street, 9th floor.

Eli Rosen Steps Into WAITING FOR GODOT In Yiddish, Replacing Rafael Goldwaser

Eli Rosen has stepped into the role of Vladimir in the New Yiddish Rep, in association with The Theater at the 14th Street Y, production of Waiting for Godot in Yiddish (Vartn Af Godot), translated by Shane Baker, and directed by Ronit Muszkatblit. Rosen replaces previously announced Rafael Goldwaser, who has departed the company due to unforeseen circumstances unrelated to the production.

New Yiddish Rep, in association with The Theater at the 14th Street Y, is pleased to present a fresh new production of Samuel Beckett's masterpiece Waiting for Godot (Vartn Af Godot), translated by Shane Baker, and directed by The 14th Street Y's artistic director of Arts & Culture, Ronit Muszkatblit. Waiting for Godot will perform in Yiddish with English super-titles for a five-week limited engagement from Sunday, December 24th, 2018 through Sunday, January 27th, 2019 at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street at 1st Avenue, New York, NY 10003). Official opening is Sunday, January 6th at 2:00 P.M.. 'Beckett's play (which was originally produced in French) may finally have found its mother tongue.' -The New Yorker
