Vocalist Storm Large, who shot to national prominence in 2006 as a finalist on the CBS show Rock Star: Supernova, brings her rock-fueled cabaret act to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, September 29, at 8pm. Storm Large's repertoire ranges from original, sweaty and steamy hard-rock numbers; standards such as Jacques Brel's 'Ne Me Quitte Pas' and Cole Porter's 'I've Got You Under My Skin'; and rock-era ballads by Randy Newman and Lou Reed. She is also a vocalist with neo-lounge act Pink Martini.
Storm spent the 1990s singing in clubs throughout San Francisco. Tired of the club scene, she moved to Portland to pursue a new career as a chef, but a last-minute cancellation in 2002 at a Portland club turned into a standing Wednesday night engagement for Storm and her new band, The Balls. It wasn't long before Storm had a cult-like following in Portland, and a renewed singing career that was soon to be launched onto the international stage.

Thursday night, at the invite-only Women of Jammcard JammJam event, Lauren Jauregui brought down the house alongside a slew of surprise guests like Chika, Sheléa, Madame Gandhi and Mads Paige. Hosted by Jammcard, the Music Professionals Network, the room was filled with a powerful energy, both onstage and in the audience, were captivated by the one-of-a-kind performance that only takes place at the JammJam. Backing Jauregui, Chika, Sheléa and the other artists who jumped in to perform were some of the top female musicians in the scene, including Nicole Row (Panic at the Disco), Kat Dyson (Prince), Angie Swan (David Byrne/Adam Lambert), Bianca Richardson (Willow Smith), Kyle Moscovich (Macklemore/Kanye West), Bonnie McIntosh (Selena Gomez), Ayla Tesler-Mabe (18 year old guitar influencer), and Victoria Theodore (Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder).
One heck of a blast was had at 'RENNIE HARRIS FUNKEDIFIED,' a funk-filled celebration of breakers, lockers, poppers, and kick-ass musicians doin' their thing, outside at the Ford Theatre, under the moonlight on a gorgeous summer eve up against the hills of Hollywood as the backdrop.
This particular performance was also a Benefit Fundraiser for the Ford Theatre Foundation,
and is part of the IGNITE @ THE FORD series, bringing contemporary artists whose work is thought-provoking and reflective of today's world to L A Theatre goers.
What an energized evening! The Director/Choreographer/Writer/Creator Lorenzo Rennie Harris assembled a fantastic group of stylized entertainers, from the incredible RHF Band: Dave Levy, trumpet, Osei Kweku, Bass, Nicholas Marks, piano and Samir Zarif, saxophone, The Versa-Style Dance Company and so many other guest artists, to give an all-out visual motif of the '70s and all the funk and fantasticness it produced.

On 8th December 2019, internationally celebrated American soprano, Constance Hauman, (www.constancehauman.com) will make her Vienna State Opera Debut. She will perform three roles (Queen Elizabeth I, Purity, Friend of Orlando's Child) in the cast of Orlando, a world premiere opera by Austrian composer, Olga Neuwirth, who is the first woman to be commissioned to compose an opera for the Vienna State Opera in over 150 years. Orlando is based on the novel (Published 11th October 1928) by Virginia Woolf. Costumes for the production will be designed by the legendary Japanese fashion designer, Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme des Garçons fashion empire.
Berklee President Roger H. Brown presented an honorary Doctor of Music degree yesterday to acclaimed recording artist Imogen Heap during the commencement ceremony for the master's degree programs at Berklee's campus in Valencia, Spain. In advance of the ceremony, graduate students prepared and performed a medley of her music in her honor at the commencement concert, held at l'Hemisfèric on Saturday.
The Austrian producer and prodigiously gifted keyboardist Dorian Concept (Oliver T. Johnson), who released his second long player 'The Nature of Imitation' on Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder imprint last year, is set to release a strictly limited translucent orange 12' edition of two previously unreleased classics on August 2, 2019. Both tracks hail from 2012-13. He originally shared 'Toothbrush' with a handful of DJ friends, and it was subsequently rinsed by Rustie, Mark Pritchard and Modeselektor, while an early incomplete demo of 'Booth Thrust' was posted on his Soundcloud profile. Neither have ever seen an official release

Bay Area rapper and hip-hop artist Prince Newman announces the upcoming release of his debut album, “Lifestyle,” out in late 2019. Official drop date and release party details are to be announced, and the campaign is starting out with a bang. Newman first came onto the scene after being discovered by legendary industry veteran and Suave House Records Founder and CEO Tony Draper in 2017 who saw unlimited potential in the young artist. Since being signed to a record deal, Newman released the single “Luxury Tax,” featuring rap superstar Rick Ross and has accrued over 450,000 streams across 140 curated playlists and more than 100,000 listeners on Spotify to date. The National Music Council will honor the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum at the 36th annual American Eagle Awards on Thursday, July 18th at the Summer NAMM Show in Nashville. Other previously announced honorees include iconic funk visionary George Clinton and the late beloved 'Peanuts' composer and jazz piano giant Vince Guaraldi. Pianist George Winston will give a tribute in honor of Guaraldi while country singersongwriter John Rich will perform in honor of Clinton, who will be on hand to receive the award.
