Prince Newman Announces Debut Album 'Lifestyle'

Bay Area rapper and hip-hop artist Prince Newman announces the upcoming release of his debut album, “Lifestyle,” out in late 2019. Official drop date and release party details are to be announced, and the campaign is starting out with a bang. Newman first came onto the scene after being discovered by legendary industry veteran and Suave House Records Founder and CEO Tony Draper in 2017 who saw unlimited potential in the young artist. Since being signed to a record deal, Newman released the single “Luxury Tax,” featuring rap superstar Rick Ross and has accrued over 450,000 streams across 140 curated playlists and more than 100,000 listeners on Spotify to date. His instant popularity gained him over 90,000 followers on Instagram. Newman also dropped a single and music video for the track “Do It For Free,” featuring Bay Area heavy hitter E-40. 

Jeremy Jordan to Star in Neil Bogart Film SPINNING RECORDS

Tony-nominated Broadway actor Jeremy Jordan will star as Neil Bogart in the upcoming film Spinning Gold, a film written and to be directed by Timothy Scott Bogart, son of the late musical idolmaker who ran Casablanca Records and died in 1982 of cancer and lymphoma at age 39.

National Music Council to Honor Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, George Clinton and Composer Vince Guaraldi With 2019 American Eagle Awards

The National Music Council will honor the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum at the 36th annual American Eagle Awards on Thursday, July 18th at the Summer NAMM Show in Nashville. Other previously announced honorees include iconic funk visionary George Clinton and the late beloved 'Peanuts' composer and jazz piano giant Vince Guaraldi. Pianist George Winston will give a tribute in honor of Guaraldi while country singersongwriter John Rich will perform in honor of Clinton, who will be on hand to receive the award.

10th Anniversary Special Engagement Of Storm Large's CRAZY ENOUGH Announced

The heavily anticipated 10th anniversary special engagement of Storm Large's autobiographical, one-woman rock musical Crazy Enough opens June 25 on the U.S. Bank Main Stage. Crazy Enough broke records at The Armory in 2009 with a sold-out, 21-week run. Beginning with stories of a childhood complicated by her mother's schizophrenia, Large takes us through the ups and downs of the years that follow - sex, drugs, running away to California, and the saving grace of rock 'n' roll.  Crazy Enough features original songs by Large and James Beaton, including the hilarious and incredibly catchy "My Vagina is Eight Miles Wide." Original music director Beaton returns to the production. Crazy Enough will open on Large's 50th birthday.

Pieces Of A Man Share New Single 'Listen'

 Manchester six-strong soul collective Pieces of a Man released their second single,“Listen”, today, sharing a live-in-studio video via YouTube. Taken from their forthcoming debut album, Made In Pieces, (produced by Zed Bias and featuring Amp Fiddler), due out July 12 on Tru Thoughts, “Listen” oozes funk and soul confidence with a deep groove, while thematically tackling communication. The song was begat from frontman/synth/talkboxer To!u A¡ayi's personal struggle of coming out to his mother: “It went terribly, but we build from brokenness.”

A whole lot of rhythm was goin' down at Live House in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 9, at the 'George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic JammJam' presented by Jammcard. George Clinton, the man who invented P-funk, was in attendance to witness stellar roof-tearing performances by some of his best-known acolytes including Ice Cube, Anderson .Paak, CeeLo Green, Eddie Griffin, Battlecat plus members of the original Parliament Funkadelic. Clinton testified, 'They had me crying like a bitch with tears of joy.'

Nearly half a decade has somehow elapsed since the last Flying Lotus album—the Grammy-nominated cadaver tetris of You're Dead! During that intermission, the multi-disciplinary Los Angeles artist has remained in constant orbit, collaborating with Kendrick Lamar on the classic To Pimp a Butterfly, directing and writing the Sundance-premiered comic horror hallucination Kuso, and producing much of Thundercat's Drunk. He's also nurtured hisBrainfeeder imprint into the most consistently innovative record label of the decade. Yet throughout that span, there was the matter of his next full-length statement.

More than 1,000 graduates from 67 countries and 47 U.S. states received degrees today at Berklee College of Music's 2019 commencement. At the ceremony, Berklee President Roger H. Brown presented honorary doctor of music degrees to music icons Missy Elliott, Justin Timberlake, and Alex Lacamoire. Lacamoire, a 1995 graduate of the college, delivered the commencement address to the graduating class and an estimated audience of nearly 7,000 guests at Agganis Arena.

All The Way That. on the exciting new Color Red imprint on May 31, 2019. The highly anticipated album embodies the past, present, and future of funk music from the creative minds of Freekbass and co-producers Itaal Shur and Color Red founder Eddie Roberts. The ten track album captures Freekbass' sound and influences traversing funk from different locations and eras, but the result is 100% original Freekbass. All The Way This. All The Way That. has a warmth that hasn't been captured until now. That's because part of the record was recorded straight to a Tascam 388, an eight-track tape recorder with a cult following at Color Red studios, that showcases the infectious energy of a live Freekbass show.
